Do we really need another thread bashing on Dale Perry? Either love getting a cheapo cue that plays ok or don't buy one but its time to let the guy be.

I agree. While I've had bad experiences with Dale Perry cues in the past, there are ample threads on AzB addressing the issues.

And while I've personally had bad experiences, I played a couple last night (Man and wife) that both had two sets of DP cues bought off ebay and they are actually better quality than the cue I received. It's hit or miss, I suppose.

There are those who order fine wine and spend the entire evening sniffing the cork and gargling the wine. Then there are others that buy a regular good old bottle of merlot, a chunk of sharp italian cheese and actually drink the wine and eat the cheese.

What the hell could go wrong with a hundred dollar cue made of wood with no batteries and no moving parts?

You don't like the shaft diameter, be creative, they got this stuff called sandpaper.

I have bought five of his cues. Two for friends and three for family.

Out of the five cues, one has a slightly warped butt, all the rest are perfect.

They have all been used for at least 3 months and the oldest are roughly 3 years old, no issues with any of them so far. All of them have the Stage Four shaft.

Could I have found used sticks for the same price, probably. Could I have found better sticks for the price, maybe. But for playing sticks that no one has to worry too much about, that look good, they do the job.

If you have specific questions, ask and I will try to answer them.

For the past three years Ive shot with a high end custom Olney that was on loan but it was time to return that cue so I bought an ebay DP cue to get me by till I found the one I wanted. It did come in a full ounce under the weight I ordered and it came with the Stage IV shaft and I was less than impressed with the feel and sound of the hit. The shaft felt kind of flimsy and it sounded like a cheap house cue with a loose ferrel. Turns out the tip only had a small dot of glue in the center and the outer edges were lose but you couldnt tell unless you were to purposely pry or pull at the edge with a knife or something similar because the stiffness of the tip and the fit was enough to hide the lack of glue. I had a Kamui black medium tip put on and had the shaft turned down to 12mm and the taper changed to more of a conical taper and the thing plays amazing now, neither me or anyone else that plays with it side by side with the custom Olney can tell the difference. So aside from it being lighter than I wanted I cant really complain, I invested another $50 on top of the original $150 cost amd I have a cue that plays like one that costs almost ten times as much... I might not even look for another one to replace it.

Not sure if it makes much difference to you or not but the Stage IV I received measured right at 12.75mm and it only cost me $25 to have it turned down to 12mm at our local pool hall
