No wonder I can't shoot

Danny Basavitch (Kid Delicious) has been off the radar most of the time since his heart attack. There have been many posts here on AZ wondering where he is and how is he's doing.

Well, Danny is alive, doing pretty well, and today he was at Drexeline Billiards in Drexel Hill PA shooting in a tournament. He told me he had lost some weight, but unfortunately had put it back on. :( He looked the same as always and still had plenty of stories to tell me. Still the character, even when they called his name, he said don't go away, I'll b back. Sounded like Arnold Swartzeneiger! He's as friendly as always and easily approachable by all. His style of shooting has not changed. ;) Still has all the pre shot routine. There was even a guy there filming him! He won his first match, and was on the 2nd, but I had to leave as my friend had to get home and I was driving. :(

I asked Danny when his movie was coming out and he said next year. He was very sure of that. As I understand it is a movie of his life and pool hustling career and antics. As we all know, pool hustling can b very interesting and exciting. Can't wait! Here is a link to a preview.

Danny gave me a copy of his book, "Running the Table" by L. Jon Wertheim. The Legend of Kid Delicious, the Last Great American Pool Hustler. I've heard some good things bout the book and can't wait to read it. There are even some pics of Danny when he was young and skinny!

I also got a copy of his DVD "Billiards", The Kid Delicious Advanced Clock System and Banking Secrets.

That is good news. I had the pleasure of meeting Danny at a UPA event in Athens a few years back. In fact, he came to our house and actually staked one of his friends against another guy on our pool table. He is an extremely nice guy and great player. I also just got a copy of his book in the mail and will read it this week.

I wonder who will play Kid Delicious in the movie

I just read "Running the Table", and it is a great book. You feel as though you come to know Kid Delicious. It is written extremely well.

Just finished the book on Friday, it was great, a lot of info on the pool scene in the US. I hope he comes to the DCC, would like to see him back in action soon. Seems he is happiest when he is playing pool and in action.

I've got 2 chapters left of the book. I miss Kid. . he needs to get down this way and revive our scene!
