Danny "Kid Delicious" Basavich

Sells cars, takes care of his girl, and seems to be doing well. Some chance of him getting time off to play a few events, but the road days may be gone since everyone knows him and pro pool doesn't pay enough to travel.

Million threads on him...

Yeah I heard about him selling cars and I know the movie was basically back burned, just wanted to see if he was doing anything else as of late.

Selling cars, where? I am just about finished with the book about him and find the guy to be very entertaining and likable. I would buy a car from him and I know what I am talking about because I own a percentage of a car dealership. People like him could sell a car and the customer will walk out the door and it will hit him. WHAT DID I JUST DO, HAHAHA.

I am going to nyc in december and I emailed elite billiards to find out what location he plays at. I would love to meet Danny. No response from elite billiards so I figure this post about him is correct. He is not playing pool anymore.

I'm sure he still plays from time to time, but tournaments don't seem to be in his agenda these days. Try finding him on facebook or something.

Danny was selling cars at Pine Belt Chevy in Lakewood, NJ. He is also trying to make some money selling baseball cards. Danny is still playing pool and giving lessons. I have his phone number if anyone wants to get in contact with him for lessons.

I've met Danny a few times at tourneys, he is a amazing human being! Love that guy! He sure can tell a story too! If ya ever get the chance to talk to him, do so! He can make the darkest days brighter, a true class act!

Good ole Danny B.

What ever happened to him?

I don't really know but I used to shoot with hime many years ago. He was always making me laugh & he was only a kid back then 16 maybe 17. I met him I think in Marboro NJ. There used to be a pool room I think on Route 18. Anyway one of theese days I would love to get in touch with him so we can laugh about old times.

When he first came out, I look at this fat 300 lb plus Ny jew kid and I am thinking this is going to be a world class ah. Boy was I shocked, he is a peach, and really cool and nice guy to be around. Its a crying shame, the game cant support great talents like him. Everybody liked the guy.

The only problem I had with him, is I could only watch him play about 5 mintues, then he drove me nuts with all those false starts, wiggling around, it was bizzare.

He didn't always play that way...I remember him when he was thin (around 1999-2000)he had lost a ton of weight and was playing really smooth and fairly fast, no false starts at all, it was a pleasure to watch.

A lot of things change some players, you see them bring the cue back, and then tremble, Varner, usually years of speed does this, some get weird smoking too much dope, or who knows what else. Their head gets all mixed up and clouded, and they get the figits. Not always, but its usually traced back to drug use. Mosconi was literally running around the tables like a rabbit, speed again. Greenleaf was on booze and Heroin. I could list them all but I wont, you get the picture.

Hoppe in the late 20's would get into spells, where he would start stroking, over and over, and just kept stroking, and could not pull the trigger. He left the game, did some serious time with a shrink, and cured his problem.

Sergio Garcia a few years ago, would get over a golf shot, and waggle for 2 minutes, and its prime weekend time, and the guys in the truck, are going nuts yelling, hit the damn shot. Somebody got to him, and cured him of it. So its just not a pool problem.

Even W.C could not pull the trigger.

First I've heard of Mosconi using drugs. Where did you hear about or read this?

I'd love to take a lesson from Danny, for both the pool knowledge and to meet him in person.

Go up to buffalo to see Danny d, or catch him in Miami in the winter, its a smart thing to do, while he is still around. Dont wait forever, soon this guy will be gone, and you will kick your self, you did not sieze the moment and do it.

The only way you can run 526 balls in 2.5 hours, is to be on speed. You should have seen the guy back then, he would trot around the table, and when the run would build, he would get faster and faster.

In his era, in the 40's, Hitler was being shot up with speed with massize doses, so was the entire German army, so was JFK, nobody then saw any problems with it, all they saw was it making you a superman.

In 57, it blew up Willies brain, and embolism, he should have died from it, but he recovered, but said, his game was never the same, he was now, down 25% in ability, which made him no longer the man, but just now another ham and egger, so he just did exhibitions from that time on.

In that era, shown by the 61 hustler movie, which had a time set in the early 50's, the only way you could play all day long, and all night long, was to become a drunk, and whiskey did not work that well, it puts you to sleep, but speed could keep you up for two days straight, but in time, it will destroy your total Neurogolical system, ask Blackjack to simply confirm that. He's seen many destroyed by it. They were getting if from their doctors, going over the border to bring it back, it was everywhere.

Yep, willie liked his red wine, and his speed. Heroin killed greenleaf, so drugs, took out, the two greatest players of all time, before their time.

There is a message there?
