I just spoke to Danny on the phone and he is good spirits (all things considered).
He is to have work doneon his jaw tuesday. His attiude is just amazing, but not surprsingly to me.
He did say that he is done with Las Vegas. Who can blame him for that.

Good to hear he is relatively OK. Once attacked with a hammer it is good news there is no brain damage or really really bad injury. Hope he recovers well.

Auction to Help Danny?

Maybe someone who knows how can set up an auction to raise funds for his recovery.......I've seen other online communities do this kind of thing to help their members....There are a lot of us here and that is a resource we can use..... While a lot of folks feel funny sending cash to people they don't really know....They will bid on and purchase auction items online......You get to help out and maybe get something you really want at the same time....Seems like a win win......

Any thoughts?

Let's not torture Mike with another auction-Somebody reputable that knows Danny take the lead and give us an address to send to.

To Help Danny Medina

Just PM Jay Helfert and he will give you the info to help out. I did and it is not a problem. Danny is trying to be positive and sounded very appreciative of me calling and sending some help. I'm sure he won't mind having more of it!

This is best way to help. I sent $200 to Laurette two days ago and a few others have now sent something. Anything will be greatly appreciated. This is not a case of a pool player asking for a hand out or "get out of town" money.

It is a true emergency for those involved and one time where some of us should pull together to help. Right now every call and every dollar seems like a miracle to them. They didn't know anyone cared about them.

Just PM me and i will tell you how and give you their number.

to those who have experience....

what are your thoughts about the walkways that connect the casinos.

As far as downtown, the only way to go place to place is to stay under the lighted walkway.

As far as the casinos on the strip, those things seem pretty good, because there really isn't any way in or out excpet to the casino, which means everything is being filmed. But you just can't stop an idiot form not knowing that. So ther is always a risk involved.

The safest bet is to travel with a group. If you are alone there, just make sure you kind tag along with a group as they go by ;) and walk with them as if you belong to it. (The bigger the group or it's members the better. :) )

I just got back from a vacation in Hawaii and am saddened by this. I wish Danny a full speedy recovery.

Made me think even about this trip and I was walking around with over a grand the whole week and should have had it in the bank and use debit everywhere. I an not a small guy either 6'3" 270 so I feel I can stick up for myself too but not from the back and with a hammer. Unreal.

When I was in Vegas last fall for the APA Team Championships we stayed at the Sahara Hotel down from the Riviera where the tourney was. You don't think about how far it is cause it looks like they are just down the street from one another but there is about a mile walk. A walk along a fenced off section of land that is undeveloped and laden with trash and bus stops where someone could jump out. Everytime I made that walk I felt uneasy and jumpy. If I make it back there I will use so cabs or not walk by myself again.

Sorry to dredge up an old topic, but... I met Danny this afternoon at a small local tournament, and it would appear that he's fully recovered. I'd never have guessed his jaw was wired shut a bit over a month ago.

I Like Danny a lot but I wonder how he did his routine while he was down on a shot with his jaw wired shut. Anyone who knows Danny please reply

Wow.. I thought I was the only one, I also stayed in the Sahara to attend a convention held in the Riviera..... On the maps it looked fine like a small stretch, but you are right once its dark out its a bit worse....

It really felt like you were going to another world on that walk, one second glammy vegas and then a couple small shops with some people panhandling or selling drugs(or perhaps they were just hanging out... I dunno but they were wearing too much money to be panhandling) and then a long dark stretch of nothing....

Due to a mishap schedule I had to actually take my bags(a rolling big one and a shoulder bag) from the riveria to the sahara in the dark... heh not smart in retrospect...

Even worse was the time I was at the palace station and wanted to play some pool over at the cue club and decided to just walk it... boy was that a stupid move.... it looked rather simply on the map, but I didnt realise that at the time the little walkway on this little overpass was closed and I had to go under... but OH under was blocked off, so I figure i'll go down a side street and get back to main road... well like 2 miles later no side streets that went where I wanted...

I think I walked about 4 miles out of my way in what could only be described as a dark and lonely section.. I think a delivery-only pizza place and 2 seedy looking strip clubs were the only things I saw...

lol it was a blast, I felt stupid at the time once I had gotten lost and kept looking behind me figuring I was a pretty fast runner.. actually ran most of it figuring that anyone who saw me wouldnt have time to follow or might think someone was chasing me already and would just let me go....lol

Good times...

It is hard to tell

when something bad happens to a good Pool player, especially one who hustles a lot, if what happened was random, or whether it was a guy who knew a guy that was a cousin to the guy that got hustled for a lot of money
by the player a week or two before type of thing.

That was funny.I may use that strategy in the future if need arises.

Did you bother to ask Danny how he was doing? How well had he recovered from the beating he took in Vegas?

You know what they say when you make assumptions.

I didn't want to pry, as I had just met him - I just told him I'd read about what happened to him "on the internet" and told him I hoped he was doing ok. Honestly, if I hadn't known he'd been jumped last month, I'd never have known it just looking at him and watching him shoot. He's sickly consistent - I was lucky to get two games on him in a race to five :)

I noticed that, he licks his lips and moves his jaw alot before every shot. It looked like he was on 15 cups of coffee or something else, but he beat Daulton in 10 ball played really good.

How many people saw the match of Danny breaking and running nine consecutive racks against Incardona? He makes some incredible shots to keep the run going.

Haven't seen it, but you can buy it from Danny. He'll also try to sell it to you even if you just lost to him in a tournament. This happened to me. From my personal experience, Danny Medina has absolutely no character. At the New Mexico open, he and his backer (or whoever) tried selling that DVD to just about everybody there. Sorry, but the guy wasn't there for some demo or something.

It is sad what happened to him and I wish him the best recovery, but please Danny, don't make yourself to look like such an ass as you travel around.
