Must be kidding, DAZ have not yet started, he is going to devour Danny alive if not today, tomorrow. I am surprised Danny is not getting two balls at least.
Fun
It has certainly been a fun match to watch. It seems to me Danny beats him to the first shot often. Both players have broke well, Danny getting lucky once. While some of Danny's banks were certainly wild, most he controlled very well. Some strong two railers. Darren missed a few balls early. Danny did take some big chances when in bad spots as opposed to taking fouls or throwing the ball up table.
Danny did try some fun shots such as the kick into the stack 5 ball or so combo to the supposed dead one.
The time he had the whole stack in front of his hole but all balls sitting goofy he shot the carom missing it and letting DA out of the trap.
The rocket bank trying to draw the cue ball (actually a few times)
The 5 ball bank early while in a trap

Let me take a wild guess and say "stakehorses" didn't make their money in the pool industry? Who doesn't like their money enough to bet on other people playing pool...in a zero sum game?

People don't get off on losing money. And staking isn't always a zero sum game. Backers who pick the right players and back the right games tend to have a winning record.
A player who uses a stakehorse to back games with low chances to win soon finds that those stakehorses aren't interested anymore.
And there are plenty of stories of players who burned their stakehorses in this way. And even worse stories of players who flat out dumped their stakehorses.
The smartest players protect their stakehorses by keeping them happy and having a number of resources available when the right game comes along.
For example, one time I was up $3000 against a very well known player at 6am after starting at 3am playing for $600 a game. At 6am we took a break so they could find more money. I thought that the game was over because they paid the last game with 5s, 10s, 20s....At 6:30am a guy shows up in pajamas with 10,000 more to bet with. I was amazed and rattled and ended up breaking even.
Anyway...Ray Hansen probably knows more about backer/player relationships than all but a handful of people in the industry at this point. Go with his word on this.
There is a term though that I read once and always found funny, I can't remember the source but it was in an interview I think of a top player and he said something about 'breaking in a new stakehorse'.

Efren, SVB, playing anyone for big cash one pocket, or Dennis with anyone playing 9 or 10 ball..By the way Ray, i like your stream a lot seriously, but this time work got me by the balls!!since i spend lots of time watching the dreaded US open...i have to send Barry the bill for his speeches time slots which took additional three or four hours from my work!!!

I really should have gone up to our local place to see Danny on their livestream. I still haven't seen him take a game seriously. Usually when I see Danny he's ten sheets to the wind hollaring across the bar after every shot "I'M RUNNING IT OUT!" or its still early in the night and he's just goofing off. Very happy to see the local boy taking it down. Hopefully sometime soon/this winter I'll have the opportunity to see him playing his real game.

This is something I have heard about Danny.
He tried to play a good amateur in the Denver area some bar box 8 ball and ended up getting beat for a few hundred because he was drinking.
The guy he played played real good bar box 8 ball, but still... A "professional" player should be taking the game more seriously if they expect to rise above a certain level.

Danny's just a gambler. He'll tell you that and so will anyone that knows him. He takes his game seriously, but he likes to throw down money, its part of having a good night for him. Sometimes he does it when he's had some drinks. Doesn't mean he takes his game any less seriously when sober than anyone else.

He missed etiquette class! Seen him several times flip out over players quitting even after several hours/days. Him and Shuff incident and him and ike!
These ahead matches and stopping gets ugly with him!
The health issues and use of energy drinks and other drugs to maintain long periods of sleep deprivation! Pool is fun and at extremes can be lethal and unenjoyable!
