By the way....I learned (the hard way) about an ebay rule that I was not aware of. You know how a lot of people state that if you pay through PayPal with a credit card that there will be an additional charge of maybe 3 or 4 %....that's against Ebay rules. They call it "circumventing Ebay fees" (even though it's not Ebay fees, it's PayPal fees)...
Anyway, I didn't realize that...they cancelled my first listing..
It already had bids and was almost to the reserve price when they cancelled it.
So, the moral of the story is: Don't do that.

yup.. that is a rule they changed in like the last year or so.. they say if you offer paypal you cant add any extra fees.. by doing so its not making it a level playing field.. and also you should add that 3% fee in your bottom line price... ebay just wants to make the final value larger.. anyways.. if its something that i want to sell and paypal will cost too much.. i always put in my auctions.. sorry.. i only accept money order only.. since paypal fees are too high email me for details why.. usually people who are interested will ask about accepting paypal..

Paypal is owned by eBay. Basically, eBay gets you coming and going. This why people are beginning to bump their shipping fees....it's the only way that they can recoup the 'bite' eBay is taking out of their final sale price, which, in some cases, can be significant. You can open a new basic Paypal account, and specify it for those payments being made directly from their bank account, and you should be able to avoid the fee.

Yeah..I'm learning these things. I'm thinking about removing the credit card option from my PayPal account. I thought it would be a good thing, but it's just too damned expensive...by the time you pay the Ebay fees for the sale, and the PayPal fees, you're looking at 7 or 8%, at least. It's ridiculous...it's like dealing with the IRS.

In defense of the devil website dealers (of which I am not one) with their consignment fee, the buyer is generally guaranteed the product to be as represented, an extremely sore point with me lately with several ebay sellers I have dealt with. DISCLAIMER, this is not to imply in any manner, shape, or form that the seller of the above referenced Tibbits cue is one of those ebay sellers

Devil's rebuttal .... I emphasize with you .. been there done that as well .. however, rarely do we (the eBay buyers) pay the dealer website price on eBay. Thus we end up carrying some of the risk as well.
I guess if we want more of a sure thing, we gotta pay up ... or roll the dice.

by not taking credit cards with paypal.. you might loose a bunch of people that are interested in buying and cant raise that amount in cash so they would rather use their credit card.. so if y ou dont take paypal.. you may not have them in the bidding mix and it might go for alot less then what you expect..

One of my buddies had alot of cues and his playing cue was a TIBBITS FOR YEARS. When he died I brokered all the cues for his wife through a family friend for the pleasure of helping his wife. He loved that cue. I never realized how expensive they were until offers started comeing in! I never even thought of hitting with the cue. Oh well.

Yep...I think they are amongst the rarest of collectible cues for sure. I'm actually sort of starting to get cold feet about selling it.......
