was he joking wen he grabbed a ball and placed it in the middle pocket then quickly shot his last 2 balls, did he do it cuz he knew luc was going to win??

I think I remember what you are talking about.... Dave grabbed a ball from the corner pocket and placed it in the side because the pocket had quite a few balls in there.

ok well it didnt seem funny but it was weird to see lol,i remember luc salvo againt busta and luc didnt call his 9 and wen asked by ref he nonchanantly sed yes hahaha but it was overturned but he has a likable disposition ,but wen strickland did it to williams it wasnt funny but for some reason i love to watch earl argue or just wait to wat hes gonna do next ,i like earl lol

This calling the nine or the last ball situation has to stop-Its just ridiculous. The reason the rule is ever there of course is to prevent someone from winning by lucking in the ball. In the speed pool tourney, there were at least 5 penalties for not calling the last ball, NONE of which were lucked in. So in effect the rule has not effected the real "play" at all-It has turned a pool competition into a memory contest. This is absurd.

In a televised reffed match, the ref should simply be given the authority to make the determination whether the ball has been made in the intended pocket. He would advise the players that he would never assume anything on a Bank or Carom and the players better call those for sure.

The incident in question happened after Dave had made a couple bad errors during the last rack and had exceeded the time needed to win. There was a ball near the side pocket and two near the opposite corner. As Dave leaned over the ball (by the side) to pocket one of the balls in the corner, he grabbed the ball by the side and slid it into the pocket. He called the last ball and finished the rack. All of the commentators say it was a joke and after seeing the replay I agree. He was about 20 seconds behind with No chance to win, and I think he did it for entertainment purposes..Technically, he did cheat, but the match was already lost.

I saw it this way too. No doubt, it was funny!

Side note: I really expected Luc to win this, as this is his normal way of playing. The first set against Dave, I expected to be real close, but the 8 ball portion should go to Luc hands down. He just thinks fast, and shoots fast. I wish Dave would have earned so "good" money for this, but Luc is the one guy I would not want to compete against like this.

same here donovan ,im a slow thinker to begin with haha ,so i take it were going to be seeing more of this speed pool?

i hope there's more speed pool in the near future. its fun to watch, and you can tell the players are having a good time while busting there azz.

it was a great final match, and just as has been said already, daves time limit was up, he knew he lost and the match was technically over, so he was just goofing around on the last 3 balls after he knew he had already lost.
