Ok, So, We rolled down there about 3pm, and the crews were finishing the set up on the sweet diamonds! As we walked through the giant expo enter we could see the TAR crew had already set up their stuff and they were rolling, while the rest of the TAR guys were Bs'in on the bleachers with Dennis Orcullo and John Schmidt.....who remembered us from the Expo, and HAD to hug/grope my wife again!
j/k. Dennis was doing his imitation of Cory slapping Charlie, and we cracked up!
Those TAR guys are like GIANTS!....man are they tall!
The wife and I were there with our friends Jimmy, and Mike....aka Big Daddy who is buds with Allen Hopkins and giving him a hand setting things up.
After a little arm twisting we got Allen and Mike to head up to the bar for a couple beers and some snacks. Allen was explaining the situation with Mika not showing up, and Tony Chohan was spotted having lunch in the corner.
After a few beers our bud Mike barked up a $50 a rack ring 9ball game with one of the guys at the bar, and off we were back down to the tables. They have a "Pro" area set up with like 10 tables in a row with seating, then about 8 more tables just outside those set up in a row. Mike got the first finished table, and the set of balls......I won the flip, and we had the first action going on in he inaugural million $$$ tourney! We played for a while, and I was up 2 racks when we quit.....those Diamonds play SWEET!
When we quit, Dennis was hitting balls on the next table with Fransisco, and Marlon....too cool!
I got to say hi to Easy-E who was getting ready to play the Sleeve a little one hole while the TAR crew, and Shane were sweatin it.
Next we chatted with Paul who is setting up all the tables, and he was about the coolest guy ever! He explained all about those Diamonds and the advantages of the slate leveling system.
We also bumped into Mr Spiderweb himself and he was hitting some banks like a champ while explaining an aiming system to someone I didn't know.
Next it was time to head back to the bar for dinner, and a drink or 5 and the great Johnny Archer walked in! We all said hi, and my wife got a big hug from him too?....hmmm? maybe these guys are just real nice?
anyway, he said his new room is doing well, and he was feeling good about the tourney.
As expected by most the turn out is a little slim, BUT....for the first year, the winner should be getting about 20K....NOT BAD! IMO.....
We should be heading down there tomorrow in the afternoon for our next report, and we heard rumors of a Saturday PM $100 entry tourney...I'll try to get into that one since I'm hitting the ball good.
til then,.....G.
