Day 3 Results

Wow, what is this I see?

Johnny Archer dry break!

Ronnie to the table, and possibly for the first time ever in his cuesport's history, he has taken more than 2 minutes over a shot, I have never seen him give a shot so much thought :)

Anyway, he is off with his pattern, and runs out.

Really high quality match.

Archer 5 - 2 Ronnie.

Sounds great, keep the reports coming :)

Ronnie dry on the break again :(

Johnny plays a long 4-ball, but gets slightly out of position, he now has a hard 5-ball bridging over another ball. He makes it well.

Looks like the ball kicked or skidded on Johnny as he misses the 2-ball.

They have a little chat now about whether a ball goes past into the corner pocket :D

Anyway, Johnny back to the table, with a really tough long cut shot down the rail on the 6-ball, ouch, rattles in the jaws and Ronnie back to the table.

Ronnie rockets them in, Archer 5 - Ronnie 3.

Thanks for the details.

Cueball off the table on Ronnie's break.

Position on the 3rd to last ball is hard, but Johnny runs out, 6-3 up.

This sucks. Why can't we have live action in the US. Does anyone get these channels on Satellite? Come on Kevin we need live action on ESPN or Fox Sports or OLN.

Anyone notice that Pagulayan lost 8-0. That's gotta be a misprint.

Good break from Johnny leaves both choices open for him, but he opts for stripes.

Simple pattern and Johnny is on the hill, 7-3.

His opponent had 4 B&R's, Alex 0, so it might not be a misprint as crazy as it sounds.

Yeah, I just was about to post that. He supposedly lost to a Sam Monday.

On another note, Efren had 5 BNRs against Lil Jon, Busta won 8-1 against Harrison, and Manalo had 6 BNRs against LJJ.

Orcullo is still undefeated, beating Wims 8-3.

Lining lost a hill-hill match against Putnam.

Quite a funny incident there, Ronnie seemed to leave the playing arena after racking, he came back, Johnny didn't know if he took a break or not.

Ronnie came back, and said he wanted a break but he said he thought he couldn't as it wasn't his break off.

Johnny said he could if he wanted, and he sort of guided him out to the toilet in a funny holding hands kind of fashion! :)

Right, looks like the tv match has changed over to Tom Storm and Mika Immonen, I guess for Ronnie's break.

Tom is 6-5 up.

Oh, back to Ronnie and Johnny :D

Go Ronnie!!!

Seeing as Ronnie had a great win over Daulton, I think he will survive this group, probably winning a tie-breaker over McKenna or Daulton. Ronnie all the way!!!

Ok, Johnny with another good break off.

He finishes the match up with another good runout, must of been 5/6 runs throughout this match for him.

Sammy's a great local player (living in Greenville, NC now). He won the Raleigh qualifier at Jillian's and is having a fantastic tournament. He won his first round robin group with a 3-1 record and a 62.16 winning percentage. He's got game.

Thanks for the updates, Buckster!

It's just my luck that I spend 3 months in the Middle East with Eurosport access, only to return to the states a few weeks before this tournament. Doh!

Ronnie's interview was very funny after the match..

Something like "If your break isn't good enough, you might aswell pack your bags, go to your local supermarket and start stacking shelves" :D

He did say though that apart from Johnny's display tonight, he hasn't seen anything that has made him go "wow", and he fancies that once he gets a good break, he can make a big impact.

Good to hear he is going to try and improve his game and really make an effort to get his break working.

Thanks for the rack by rack updates Buckster, it sounds like Johnny is really hitting them sweet. I still think Ronnie O will make it out of his group, but if he does he is gonna have to step his game up a notch in the next round.

No worries Sniper.

To be perfectly honest, every chance Ronnie had he ran out, it was just that Johnny was working his break to perfection, but Ronnie couldn't get one ball of his break.

Match analysis = All about the break :)
