DAZN shady subscription practices

Be aware for any future events that DAZN will now renew a monthly subscription from the day you cancel, not from the day you subscribed. I ordered a month of DAZN on November 21 to watch the mosconi cup. When I went to cancel my one month subscription on dec 10th they tell me I now owe them a up to Jan 10th. What a bunch of BS. I told them to delete my account, I'll never use them again, and any further charges on my credit card will be reported as fraudulent.

I guess that's what I get for trying to do things the right way. I'm just another AH customer to them. So if you do need to use DAZN on a temporary basis, make sure to cancel IMMEDIATELY after subscribing or you will be charged extra.

good to know

I just waded thru some of the legal-ese in DAZN's terms of use page. This is described in the terms. Total bullshit move but it is in their agreement. I've never signed up and never will.

I read the agreement before I signed up, so I knew that (30 day notice) was going to happen. The secret, is to sign up, and then a day or two later, cancel your subscription. But I forgot to do that, until I saw this thread (my bad). So I now owe up until January 11th. On the other hand, I can still watch DAZN until January 11th. So, it is what it is.

The same thing happened to me.

Never again.
Matchroom has been doing a great job promoting nineball, but they need to find a legitimate streaming partner.
YES! I got scammed by DAZN too. @Bob Jewett said that Matchroom Live does show some US Pool but Im not sure they cover all the tournaments. Matchroom PLEASE get a professional streaming service! They should just offer a yearly pool subscription and then cover/stream all their events. No more DAZN!!

What's wrong with buying a year of DAZN then? You get all the MR events, which are plentiful. It's way cheaper than any other streaming pool service. Accu-stats is what, $50-$70 for a week long event? The other streamers are $20-$50 for a 2-3 day event. DAZN is $120 range for the entire year (at least that's what I think I've been paying the last 2-3 years).

<== Super satisfied DAZN customer here.

A friend of mine had it. He said they show very little pool on DAZN and what they do show is not scheduled til the day before if not the day of an event. I think their subscription moves are borderline criminal. I'm never giving them a quarter. I don't even do the buy/cancel to watch the MC. Don't care enough i guess.

Me too. They are sleazy.

But of course that's how it is. MR is the only pool entity that uses their service. So of course the only pool events are MR events. Anyone who is a fan of pool enough to pay for a pool stream, knows the MR calendar inside and out. They don't need DAZN to tell them when the event is. That's like a football fan complaining the network didn't tell them when football is on TV and they missed the game. Its been Sunday forever.

So would anyone here pay $120 for a year of Accu-stats? Without knowing the exact schedule? But you already know they do the DCC, the International Open, and sometimes another event or three. I bet most people who buy a stream would say that's a good value.

Well with DAZN, if you buy the year, you get every MR event. What are we up to now, 5-6 big events per year? WC, US Open, MC, WCOP, EU Open. Probably another I forgot. That's top notch coverage and production value. Cheaper than any other streamer. Plays on any device. No sign up hoops to go through.

I guess I just don't get all the hate on them. The service is great, and the value is great, IMO as a paying customer.

as i understand it
they advertise pay by the month cancel anytime
you pay for the first month then cancel before the month is up
and get charged for a second month

Not exactly. It's pro rata.

For instance, I signed up on November 30th. So a full month subscription for me would have been until December 29th. But... I canceled the subscription on December 12th. Thus, because of the required 30 day notice policy, my subscription will now run until. January 11th. I will be charged for the extra 13 days, on a pro rata basis. So, it will cost me $19.99 for the first month, plus about $7.00 for the extra 13 days.

I can live with that.

thanks for the clrification
that does not sound so unreasonable

While you are signing up for anything, take your phone and add a reminder to your calendar to cancel the membership you are currently doing.

if i understand correctly
in dazn case you would have to cancel the same day you sign up to not pay extra fees

That's pretty much standard for most subscription based services. Even apartment rentals are like this. No offense to the people doing this, but they are trying to game the system. Its like buying a month of health insurance when you want to see the dr, then cancelling it after the visit.
