DCC 9-Ball

Big congrats to Brumback!

He's banked like a demon every year it seems, with some tough losses to deal with. Nice to see a champion rewarded for coming back after tough times and demonstrating some huge talent and heart.

Van Van is a monster, Ralf is freaking Godzilla, but I'm rooting for the US to come through with Shane.

Ralf winning again will start to be similar to Efrens' 1-P domination in the past.

Shane 7, Ralf 3
Van Van 7, Adam 5

In the second match, Van Van missed an easy six ball down the rail at 6-2. It would have ended the match. Adam took advantage and won that game plus ran the next two racks. He was on his way to making it hill-hill when he missed an even easier six ball at the same pocket. The six ball is the hardest ball to see clearly on the table, plain and simple.

Shane vs. Van Van for all the marbles. Van Van has his number, beating Shane in tournament matches and for money. We'll see if he can change all that now.

Following this match we have the Straight Pool final with Appleton and Harriman. A lot more pool yet tonite.

Come on Shane!!

Van Van seems like a good guy and is obviously a great player, but its like the Ryder Cup in golf, you get tired of watching non-US players get all the glory while the US players try and find a way to win.

Did Shane play great or did Ralf have a bad match?

Since the world championships might not even happen this year, this is as big a win as any maybe this year so I really wish they would extend the race to 11 or 13 instead of 7 wins.

Go Shane!

They both missed a lot (for them) though Ralf still made a ball on every break I saw all day and i saw at least 15.

Shane pulls it out 7-6. A very exciting final, although the play was ragged at times. Lee Van seems to have Shane's number and he always struggles with him. At least this time, Shane got there in the end. Shane won 16K for first. Brumback had the best week with 10K in Banks, plus 20K for the All Around and more money in both One Pocket and 9-Ball.

One more match, the Straight Pool final just getting underway. If Harriman can win, it's a clean sweep for the Americans. Back to L.A. tomorrow to get ready for the Swanee next weekend. Quite a few good players should be there. I'll try to arrange for TAR to cover it as well.
