DCC master of table

I think he would have a hard time beating Alex in an all around for sure.

Other way around and Buste is a bit past his prime. Buste was the best player in the world for over a decade and if it was not for some horrendously bad luck in some key tournaments everybody would know it. No one would play him for big money for well over a decade.

Well what other venue would address the question
who is the best pool player

than the master of the table?
At one time the Johnson city all around was as
good a test as possible

Granted a player might get lucky,
but it sure beats a subjective guess

I think it’s obvious to those in the know that master at the derby is the best test we have currently at proving all around skills. However with races to 3 one pocket and 5 short rack banks we could hypothetically play the derby every weekend for a year and end up with multiple diff winners. So to just say busty is the best because he won the master of the table is not completely definitive. Now if you take a larger sample size something like how many times a player has won master of the course of their career and base it on that will most likely give you a more accurate answer. Clearly the majority thinks Efren was one of the best all around ever and easily top 5 you can use his multiple master of the derby wins as actual evidence

Dennis would shut down that weekly event in 9mos...ga-Ron-teeed!!!!

barrymuch

you have stated the situation as correctly as
it can be

perhaps longer races or a venue that lets players

it would be some pretty long competition

i would like to see some regional, national, international
competition
compete in banks,9 ball, one pocket and straight pool

possibly big truck could have some action nights
with streaming or pat fleming could do something
regional shootings

i know i would subscribe

ilike it with the players or stake horses putting up the money with
the weekly shootouts and a great big prize for the final
national winners and a huge prize for the world champion

i don't see anyway to sponsor the pros getting in the weekly things
nor would i want to

armature golfers travel to play and never get paid
i suspect we would get a pretty good group to play even if there were no big pizes

I don't have a response. The quotes got messed up and I didn't say that.

Imo, that is one of the reasons why is isnt great for competetive events. Too lopsided too often.

So, how much pressure are you under in straight pool, when one mistake may be your last and cost you the whole match? A LOT! That's one of the things that makes it a great game. Brings out the true champions.

Hell, even dogging the lag can cost you the match.

Alternate break 9 ball? That game is a joke - any mistake will only cost you 1 game, then you get to break again anyway (or the other guy was going to break anyway)

Play a player like SVB winner breaks 9 ball and see how much more you pucker up when facing a tough shot / decision - because it could cost you 6 or 7 racks, not just one.[/QUOTE]

Too funny. Now look what the messed up quotes say you said.

Plausible deniability! The whole forum and all its content!!

Mot

Is there a place to see MOT results by player. Particularly interested in who finished higher, Billy Thorpe or Dennis Orcullo

Guys give some credit to The Iceberg USA's Justin Bergman he finished 2nd to Busty for Master of The Table.

I don't think he gets near enough credit sometimes for how great of an all around player he really is.

He made a very gracious post giving congratulations to Francisco saying he deserved to win the title and played better than him.

I kept some unofficial data. Orcollo's 3rd/4th finish in 9-Ball gave him more points in that one event than Thorpe got in all 3 events.

In total points, I've got Orcollo 9th and Thorpe 14th.

Congrats to Bustamante amazing at 54 he plays at this level.

Seems like the great players from the Philippines play at a high level late in their 50's Busty,Efren and Jose.

Alcano is in his mid 40's now and still a monster player must be something in the water over there lol

Busty beat T-Rex in a huge action Match in 2016 playing One Pocket the man is a true living legend of the game.

He might be the best ever in his 50's i know a few others played at a high level at this age Efren,Buddy,Jose,Mike Lebron,Earl, are some of the players i can think of.

Irving Crane won world titles at the ages of 53, 55, 57, and 59.

Absolutely love the pics! And I kid you not!
