DCC One Pocket - final rounds

Efren putting the chalk face down on the rail like normal. There must have been something weird going on in his match with Hennessy.

Nice back and forth in the first rack after a good break by Efren.

(A comment by JJ about both pockets rolling off a bit -- rolling up from the end rail making slow rollers difficult.)

Efren with the first chance and he hung up his first open shot after making the initial bank shot. Tony's first shot after -- he missed by a couple inches.

Both players look a bit tight early. Efren early 4-0 lead and banks a ball off the stack and into his pocket. 5-0

Tony misses another bank bad enough that it goes into Efren's pocket (6-0). Efren stares down a tough frozen on the long rail shot (7-0).

Needs 1....plays safe....

Tony looks more slouched over than normal to me.

I sort of miss hearing him being called "Efrum" :)

Thinking about the collective one-pocket knowledge at play with Efren and Tony on the table and Frost and Jones in the booth. Wow.

Efren went for the rack win and gave Tony a chance after missing. Bad bank by Tony.

Efren 1-0

Crowd applauds.

Nice break by Tony but no ball on the end rail so he's not in too much trouble to start. Efren fires at a bank, misses, leaves Tony long and straight-in. Makes it but wasn't confident enough to stroke the ball. Tony fouled somehow and I lost the ball count for minute.

Kenny get his hair trapped in the ball return and Tony and Efren take turns trying to extricate him. I kid...

Tony got another shot and fired this one in confidently. Now there's some confusion about the earlier foul that they sort out. No earlier foul by Tony.

Tony (3-1)

JJ is talking about Efren's right shoulder problems which he had for years. In one of the local Philippines match, Efren had a "loose" T-shirt and I saw a surgery scar on his back by his right shoulder so it looks like Efren took care of the problem. You don't see him flexing that shoulder like he used to do.

What happened a few min ago with the coin? Did the ref spot a ball? They were discussing a couple min but I missed the outcome.

Tony with a great end-rail to end-rail and back bank (4-1).

A few innings later Tony banks into a dead kiss and sells out. Efren only get 2 (4-3). Leaves Tony a tough cross-corner that he makes (5-3).

Tony in protect mode now up 7-3. He sometimes gets impatient in this situation...

Tony jabs at a bank that JJ and Frost didn't think he should take but he hits it perfect.

Tied 1-1

Crowd applauds for Tony about as much as for Efren.

Rack #3:
Nice break by Efren but Tony equalizes on his first shot. He's starting to look comfy.
Efren tried something quite aggressive, makes a ball, BUT scratches.
Tony ball in hand in the kitchen. Fires a tough shot in.

Nice quick run out.

Tony 2-1

Rack #4:

Kenny polishes off the cue ball in his mane...Tony breaks

Orthodox break with a ball on both side and end rail.

Tony is tightening the vise on the Master early in this rack.

Efren in protect mode. Has to be tough protecting against a guy that can shoot at anything. Efren kisses a ball in to the open and gives Tony a chance...

Tony runs a couple and then shoots a dead one out of the stack. They didn't open up right. 4 balls in the open but has to shoot a tough combo...

He's measuring it....didn't quite make it but it's in the jaws. Efren (5-3)

Efren didn't clear the ball out of the jaws....sells out.

Tony dribbles in a combo but doesn't leave ball #6 in the pocket. Doesn't matter as he banks a ball in and finishes it off.

Crowd cheers.

Efren gets standing ovation!

That's all folks.

coming 3rd in this field at his age is still crazy lol

i hope tony wins, he's due and i can't stand vinegar
