I can only make one of these tournaments which should it be and why?
I travel to one local tournament a year and the BCA Nationals religiously. I am growing as a player, i enjoy small action, I'm strong for my area which makes me a B- 9 Ball player, and a B+ 8 ball player, 14.1 is my favorite game but I haven't put a 100 ball run together yet and one pocket is new to me. I want to add one of these tournaments to my calendar for a chance to see top notch players and pick up as much as possible.
Thanx for your help

I think if you are a big table player and like playing in the tournaments the DDC is the one to go to. If you like bar box and just like to gamble a little to VF is the best. It is also a good tournament to play in. I guess with gas prices it depends just how far you have to drive. With you being the player you are you should make a few bucks at VF on the challange tables but you just have to pick the right ones. Good luck either way

I'd pick DCC

I have never gone to Valley Forge, but I believe that DCC is generally considered to be THE pool event of the year.

I think at VF you have more to do, you'll have a shot to win a few matches in the event and if you feel brave you can test out the action tables and play on the one that is in your price range. You stand no chance in the tourney at DCC or in action, but they are both top notch. To me VF is the one that has more fun for the lower class of player (by that I mean a non pro can play and feel like he has a chance) DCC is just for watching.

DCC I think.....but Im no expert.

DCC to play pool. To see the largest number of big name players and great unknowns. DCC for the drama. VF for cues I have heard from everyone. DCC was named best event in pool by several magazines. JMO.

I'm only 45 min from VF so I've been going since I found out about it 3 yrs ago. I always have a good time but I'm a spectator, not a player. If I could only go to one, I would go to the DCC.

It simply depends on what you want out of the trip. I prefer to watch good pool 1st & foremost. At VF you get a limited 64 player field in the pro event.

At the DCC there were over 400 in every event. Efren, Grady, The Beard, and pretty much every road player you can think of goes to the DCC, they don't go to VF.

I'm an action junkie. The place where I grew up always had action and very good action (Joyner, Daulton, Watson). This is one of the reasons I love the DCC... there's an action room that has something like 10 tables and they're all going and there's someone in there playing 24 hrs a day. You can see anything from $10 a game to $30,000+ sets... you never know.

At VF all they have is the barboxes where they play "racker, breaker". VF is the only place I've ever seen this. I don't particularly care for it but some do. People are crowded around a small barbox and you can hardly see. The big bets are the side bets if I remember correctly. It just doesn't do it for me. I'd rather watch Scott Frost and Corey D, or Sparky & Cliff Joyner match up on a big table for a few grand and sit back and watch comfortably.

They each have their good points, it's just a matter of what you're personal tastes are. Either way, you'll enjoy the choice you made. ;)

T-girl,
Too true. I'm quite surprised that no one has yet mentioned the AZB room at DCC. If you want an opportunity to socialize with some of the forum members, hang out with some of the greats of the game, and participate in some clinics and mini-tournaments - then the DCC with the AZB room should be your choice.

Though 2006 was the first year for the AZB/onepocket.org room, I can only see it improving in 2007.

RPM,
you of course should (have to) go to DCC, where else can you get a chance to match up with a pro for cheap and watch some insane matchups almost 24/7?
Don't forget the spot you offered me, I may have to take you up on it in vegas...

I went to the first DCC...and the third. I have been to three VF's inna row. As JIMBO put so well, dont think your gonna go to DCC and stand tall unless your a worldbeater. Go to the DCC if you wanna be part of billiard history because without question its the modern day Johnson City. VF is a pool players paradise for cues, cases and amatuer pool on the barbox. They both have good and bad but my choice for 2007 is the DCC!! Just finished booking the room for me & my old road buddy JG-n-KY!!!

From a players perspective, I'll vote for Valley Forge. It is by far better organized.

DCC could be a much better event if it weren't so chaotic.

If you are soley a spectator, I don't think that DCC can be beat! Non-stop poolplaying for 10+ days!

I would have to vote for the DCC , With the AZB ,1Pocket room of course :-) !
I enjoyed the meet and greet and the friendliness of everyone including the pro's! I ate lunch with Pelinga , got to play with/against a few pro's ( I have the 26 autographs to prove it ) , Helped Jeannette Lee store some boxes , Got to hear The Beard , Buddy Hall and Tom Ferry reminisce a little , Spoke with Allen Hopkins for a bit , Got some free instruction from a BCA Master Instructor and I also got to help out a fellow AZB er who was in a bit of a pickle ...all in

Ratchet - and I also got to shoot some pool too !

This echos what I would have said (or will say...lol). If you want to play, go to VF. If you want a great experience, although not necessarily play, go to DCC.
