Dead straight full splice blank 1 piece cue

Hi Guys,

Any ideas on what to do with a dead straight full splice one piece cue?

I already installed an old Micarta Ferrule and Old Champion tip on this cue. The cue roll dead straight. Currently it's about 17oz and the butt is about 1.36". Looking to take the butt down to normal 1.25" size and add a brown phenolic butt cap to it but not sure if this is the way to go.

Also, was thinking of having Mike Miller add some inlays to this cue.

Additional option is to make into a hoppe style bumperless cue.

Going to drill and tap for weight bolt so that I can adjust weigh to about 18.75 to 19oz.

Super Rare to find these still in one piece and even rarer to find them dead straight!!

Any idea to enhance this cue will be appreciated.

phenolic joint, SW satin style rings, oil finish and old school cork wrap

less is more some times, keep it looking old

Thanks for the feedback...but I was thinking of keeping the cue as a one piece. Already looking for a case for this one.

Just wanted some ideas on how I can beautify the butt sleeve on this one piece cue.

Going to have it taper down to 1.25 and originally wanted a inch of ivory butt cap on this one but now am leaning toward brown phenolic. Going to try to drill and tap the cue to hold the new Predator custom weight system so that i can bring the weigh up to around 19oz.

Will probably get some idea from Mike Miller on this one...and have him do some inlay work if possible.

Cue plays very well as is right now...and I think will play better when it's made heavier.

Gonna make me cry! Sooo hard to find a nice example for a wrapless in the lighter weights. :crying:

in that case, skip the inlays and have someone put a small buckhorn or ivory butt on it and leave it at that, future generations will thank you for it

How are you going to do that ?

Lol...the old fashion way....hand sand the butt down with 220 grits. If I still had my hightower lathe, I would have chuck up the whole cue (joint area in head stock) and taper it down with a router.

No inlays

Keep it plain and simple. Brown phonetic but with an ivory hoppe ring. Sweet find.

If you decide to cut it, salvage the shaft end since it is straight. The butt end you can cut shorter than 29" since it will probably need a handle installed anyway. The titlist conversion I shoot with now was straight, so I was able to keep the shaft end and it is nice dark old maple and hits pretty nice.

Here's what I decided to do with this one piece full splice cue:

Figure I keep the label, add a little weight to it and take down the handle so that it's more playable and fitting to my hand. Check it out...plain and simple.

This way, if the cue should ever warp on me...I can always still converted it.

Action tested...ran 3 racks of 10 balls on a tight table at Steinway. Has $20 right now to it name...Lol.

Duc: I like the way you finished the cue. Hard to beat a one piece. You have a winner for sure....Doug

Thanks...used this one piece to take out two pro players in our weekly tournament at Steinway (no handicap but race is only to 5). :)
