Dealer cases for long term cue storage or ???

Hello All,

Has anyone tried the dealer cases (rolling type 12x24 or 20x20) for storage purposes? I saw some in the wanted/for sale section today.

Are there any reviews from people who have purchased these? Are these types of cases good for long term storage of cues (mid to high value)? Or are they better for the back and forth of a dealer's typical usage, ie temporary transportation?

If not how do you recommend storing your cues at home which you don't regularly play with? I know purchasing several Instrokes/JB Cases etc would be a safe bet but that could add up money-wise pretty quickly.

man i have had the same thing going through my head the past 6 months or so....i finally figured out by other peoples recomendations what i was going to do.....garth bair....onqcases.com check out his dealer cases...they are the nuts.....plus there are some pics in the cue gallery of his work that is owned by forum members....and i two weeks i will post pics of my new dealer case.....awesome guy to work with and i think he makes one of the best custom dealer cases out there....and ps he is really reasonable.....not as cheap as one of those 200 to 400 dollar pleather rolling dealer cases....but i like something fancier...:thumbup: mickey

I use 12X 24 Porpers, non- rolling type. Sometimes you have to fuss with getting cues in and out of them if the holes are too deep (they are better with joint protectors) but it would be hard to come up with better everyday protection for storage and they're light weight and affordable. If you have a lot of cues, they stack nicely and don't take up much room.

I had a 10x20 rolling case, inexpensive kind, for storage and it was ok. I don't like storing my butts with the joint down and had to do that will several cues. Many people don't care about that.

Now I have an OnQ case and love it for storage. Since it doesn't have wheels, it is not for transportation, However, the construction, looks and efficient design are perfect for my needs. And, I love the color coded tubes - very smart design.

I have an old 12 x 24 that I got in a trade about 4 or 5 years ago and it does the job fine. It has no wheels and just a little strap on the side, im not sure if they even make that certain style anymore.
