As many of you already know, I was recently screwed on ebay. I bought a Les Blevins cue and was sent a cheap China made Southwest copy. I filed a dispute through paypal and now they want a letter or letters from non-bias third party dealers, faxed to paypal, to back my claim for a refund. Can any of you guys with a letterhead or a business card as a cue dealer please help me. Paypal has given me 8 days to respond with my proof. Otherwise I am out $500 for a $79 China pool stick. Please help if you are willing. Here is a link to the cue I bought. Here is my email mgard3636@aol.com and my phone number 865-776-9969.

You didn't leave feedback? Maybe you could save somebody else from having the same problem.

Feedback will come later

I will leave feedback on the 90th day that way he won't be able to leave me bad feedback in return. I hate to get retaliation feedback when I did not do anything wrong.

Damn that's chicken shit..So what if he "retaliates"? He 100% sold a phoney cue, one negative feedback from a a phoney won't hurt your reputation.

I'm sure somebody here will help you out, and I hope you get all your money back.

In that 90 days, he could scam a dozen more people..:(
Did you talk to the seller. Maybe he did not aware that it is not a Les Blevins.
I would think that he wants to keep his 100% feedback rating.

I talked to him

As soon as I got the cue, I emailed him and informed him that it was not a Blevins cue. He said that I should have known by the pictures and that I should not have bid in the first place. As for the feedback I will leave it later, I am a power seller on ebay and I do not want to lose my status because of some deadbeat that leaves negative feedback after trying to screw someone. I have opened another account on ebay for the sole purpose of bidding and winning any other auction this person list. That way he will not screw over anyone else and he wont get paid for anymore cheap knock-off cues.

Seems to me that if you show ebay his email as stated above it would prove that he didn't sell you the cue you paid for. He basically admitted it wasn't a Belivins (sp) cue.

Anything else to the story we need to know?

I remember that cue....
I thought about it, but something just didn't feel right about the forearm, so no go.
It looks kind of weird in the close ups.
Otherwise it's a great looking cue.
Too bad the seller is being weird.

here are his exact words.

here is the email I got after I got the cue. I told him I was comparing it to the 5 Blevins cues I alread to own, which is how I knew it was fake.
Dear subcue,

you had enough pictures to look at and enough time to ask questions and you're the one so eager to end the auction early. with 5 blevins you have in hand, you're the one who should have not been bidding if you didnt think it was his; from the rubber stop to the signature issue. i even mentioned that it's up the interested bidder whether it is or not his. no one forced you to outbid 12 other bids.

Crooks ...

So Cuehobby says that it is your responsibilty to make sure it is what "HE" said it is.. Sounds to me like a open and shut case.. He says its a Les Blevins cue in the ad but now it is not...Ebay should shut him down until this is resolved... "This cue (Les Blevins)"...Took it right of his ad.. Tired of these crooks...Don

as a ebayer myself i always read feedback. if this person left you a bad rep you can always respond in the same neg comment.

when i read these things to me they cancel eachother out. i dont think you will ever be hurt bc u were the buyer not the seller. you werent dishonest he was.

i can understand not wanting to tarnish your rep but think of the other dozen ppl he might get in these 3 months

if he gets booted will his neg feedback go away. if so that would help

also when did he mention it was up to the bidder to decide if it was a les or not? he didnt mention this in the auction

I think I will leave negative feedback.

I know just by talking to this guy, he will leave me negative feedback in return.

I had contact with the con artist also

The following was his response to my email prior to the end of the auction where I asked him why there was no signature and the different butt style on the cue and what proof he had that it was a Blevins:

Dear our_auctionguy,

this one is not signed or dated. i'll just leave it up your knowledge of the cue maker and his workmanship style. the cue is great condition, other than the blueing of the shafts from chalk. the butt is in great shape, no dents or finish chipping and last time i check (this morning), the cue is still straight together or apart. overall, 85/100 on consevative side. maybe you can get in touch with him and verify that it's one of his; since i have no proof of authenticity. thanks for the interest.

To be successful in some people's eyes, you need to know how to lie and not get caught even when everyone knows you lied. This guy is just polishing his technique. I would tell eBay that he posted a fraudulent ad and that they are responsible for your loss if they don't get Paypal to reverse the charges. Ebay has owned Paypal since 2002. he should have corrected his ad if he was not sure it was a Blevins. I doubt you are going to get a dealer to help because they consider eBay to be competition and they will likely laugh. You could try Jay at TJs Billiards in Huntington WV. He is a Richard Harris Dealer and listed on Richard's site. Now my secret be known, he has numerous Blevins cues for sale. I saw a number of them last weekend and bought one from him. I can't promise he will help you, but he is an authority on Blevins and has direct contact with Les. He ain't giving them away either.
Good luck.

I just looked at this auction and previous items this guy has sold. Several of the buyers are well known members here on this forum and the deals looked above board. Did this guy just go bad or something? He should be fully outed if this is indeed a scam. Sorry but I wouldn't know a Blevins from a China made cue. Maybe 1 of those anti American outfits that specialize in selling those cheap import cues would help with a letter.
