December King of the Hill

Looking at the IPT site, it appears that even if you're not a card holder but are in the top 41 money earners for 2006, you get to play in the KOTH II event. Is this correct? A friend made it into the Vegas event so I'm wondering if he can play in the KOTH II if he makes enough dough in the first two events.

Also, I thought Efren was going to be King of the Hill for that event but it appears its the leading money winner in '06 who is seeded. Might turn out to be Efren anyway but what exactly did Efren win besides $$ by winning the first KOTH?

It states on the IPT website: Sunday 1pm - LEVEL F
The final match is between the 2006 King of the Hill and the winner of the previous day’s Final Round Robin. These two play for the King of the Hill honors and the $200,000 grand prize!

The way I had understood the format for the KOTH, Efren Reyes, the current King of the Hill, will be the reigning King of the Hill in December 2006, just like Sigel was last December. By winning last year's KOTH, Efren is guaranteed to win the second-place prize monies or $100,000.

The top 40 money-earners of the year will be competing in this invitational event. Last year, all competitors were guaranteed $6,200 for last place. This year, however, the last-place prize monies is $8,750. I do not think the Hall of Famers will get the double bye this year that they enjoyed last year. Each player will have to begin the tournament at the same starting gate.

I also thought that the new King of the Hill would be the leader on the money list for 2006 not just Efren for beating Sigel. However, it might very well end up being Efren in any case.

Incorrect JAM. It is the money leader in the rankings who is the King of the Hill. The website says this clearly. :)

From The IPT Website:The top money earner in 2006 (the King
of the Hill) will be seeded directly into the
final match. Each player guaranteed a
minimum of $8750. Full payouts listed
in the addendum.

I don't know why they had him play Sigel to be KOTH If he would just lose his title right after. A KING Should Be Beat from his Throne.
I bet Efrin does not mind because he still got the Cash & I’m sure he will get allot more!

But Its Kevin’s Tour Its His Rules And I think for a chance at this kind of money most players would play on dirt for a shot at it!!!

That should Still Be Efren:)

I stand corrected, and thanks for the important clarification.

Here is the direct verbiage cut-and-pasted from the IPT website:

The top money earner in 2006 (the King
of the Hill) will be seeded directly into the
final match. Each player guaranteed a
minimum of $8750. Full payouts listed

Well, what I want to know is what in the world are they going to do if the top money earner is a lady! :D

Surely, she cannot be a KING of any hill. :o

King vs. Queen?

If that happens I think Sigel would be beside himself! Anybody notice his chauvinistic view of women playing pool, evidenced by his comments during the airing of the IPT on OLN?

If a man misses it’s uncharacteristic, but if a "girl" (Mike's word) misses it is somehow expected or they are not used to the "slow cloth" or "tight pockets". The Man can draw on the "slow cloth" because he has a "powerful" stroke where the "girls" can't because they don't have the powerful stroke. IMHO this must be where he gets the nickname "Mike the Mouth".
