Dechaine 8 and out vs Archer?

Also is this the first ever set run in 10ball? Probably not just dont remember to many if any sets run out in 10ball

I guess the tweet says that Archer never got to the table. Dechaine is the shiznit.

Don't let the kid fool ya.
I'll play Mike even...as long even means I get the wild everything and all the breaks

Damn JA lost both his matches 8-0....winner breaks is def the way to play. jA should have had a chance to try to run 8 as well

Didn't see it, but background commentary said it during the TAR stream. omgwtf tweeted it:

"US Open 10B 1LSide: Mike Dechaine d. Johnny Archer, 8-0. Dechaine won the lag and then ran the set (all 8 racks) out."

For what it's worth, Alex ran 1+7 earlier.

I think Alex actually ran 5. He missed a ball in game three then had to use a jump cue after Matt hooked him. He ran that game out to make it 3-0 then ran the set out.

So far Dechaine has 8, and Frost & Pags have 5 (may be others, that's all I've heard of)

This may be a first...I've never heard of an 8-pack at 10-ball.
And I've seen lots of 10-ball on 5 inch pockets.
I feel this at least equals Johnny's 13-pack on Busty at 9-ball...
...they were playing on bigger pockets also.

Earl's 11-pack still gets my vote as the best...he had million $ pressure.

But he made the 9 ball 4 times on the break. Efren 9-pack against Busty certainly gets my vote.

I just remember a few years ago that they were complaining you wouldnt see packages like this in 10ball and here you go he runs 8 and out. Just impressive in 10ball

Also 10ball are tougher rules wise. No early games for making the 10 on the break and I am not positive but are they playing called pocket also?

If so I think 8 and out 10ball is alot more difficult then say 12 and out in 9ball. Specially how tough it is to break 10ball and no early games on the break plus call pocket if thats the rule.

I guess 10 Ball has not solved the '9 Ball' problems afterall. Anyone for 11 Ball?

This is the typical response of a "you'll pry my Texas Express from my cold, dead fingers" 9-baller. I.e. that 10-ball is merely only "1 extra ball added to a game that's already being played."

Folks that play 10-ball know that the "automatic wing-ball into the corner and automatic 1-ball in the side" of 9-ball does not exist in 10-ball. Because of 10-ball's triangular-shaped rack, the closest you can get to this kind of predictability in 10-ball, is that second row of balls -- one of them going into the side. That's what the pros are playing for, but any of them will tell you that's not automatic. Also, there are no golden breaks in 10-ball -- the poster that mentioned Earl's 11-pack having a footnote next to it (i.e. that 4 of those racks were golden breaks) has a point.

And let's not forget the call-shot wrench thrown into the works as well. You can't downplay that restriction, especially when faced with bank shots. (I.e. a favorite ploy in 9-ball is to hit bank shots harder than normal, so that if you, say, miss the cross-side bank, the object ball may take an extra trip cross-table and go into the opposite side -- a legal shot in 9-ball, but not in 10-ball.)

There's a lot more to 10-ball than the shallow "it's only 1 extra ball" thing. What Mike Dechaine did, an 8-pack in 10-ball, is truly extraordinary. You're not going to see many of those!
