I have heard nothing but absolute GREAT things about Searing cues, so I look forward to the day that I can also get my hands on one. Many of the high end cue dealers that I know, and many others that I consider 'well informed' when it comes to high end cues, consider Searings work to be some of the best ever!

Dennis is easy to reach and nice to talk to!
Years ago, I heard the very same thing about Dennis..how he is hard to reach and that he doesn't e-mails or voicemails. I wanted to get a cue from him and decided to call him one day. I got through on my first try and he is great to talk to. He will listen to you with what you want and will also input his own suggestions, i.e. combination of woods, color of veneers, joint, etc.
He was at the 2004 Expo in PA and boy, was there a long wait just to talk to him. I went by his booth about 4-5 times before I was able to get a chance to talk to him.

I knew Dennis prior to his cue making days, I lived in FL in 89-93 and played with him in a weekly tournament at Hollywood billiards, we hung out in the same rooms and I followed but never played in FL pro tour events, I wouldn't call him a friend but I would say an acquaintance. When I heard he started to make cues I decided I'd order one from him, I had heard some good things about them from Miz, and decided I would order one. I went to his shop and spent a few days with him and heart attack Jim (nickname my friend gave him). We talked about his ideas and I gave some input on a cue I wanted, at the time he was not doing inlay work, so the cue was a basic 4 point design. He gave me a price of $750 for the cue and told me 4 months (again it was early on and he had no wait) I made the mistake of giving him a deposit. In the following months I tried to e-mail and call him leaving more then a few messages, never to get a reply, after the 4 months was up I called to see where the cue was as far as progress, again no reply. 6 months later I went back to the shop, my cue had not even been started, I asked why and got a bunch of excuses, from equipment to divorce issues, and so on. I cut him some slack and asked when he felt it could be done by, he promised me the cue in 6 months. Again 6 months came and went and he never answered the phone or returned an e-mail (he had caller ID at the time). I went back to the shop and still no cue was started. I had about 10 tips put on other shafts that day and took the money out of my cue deposit and told him I still wanted the cue, he promised again that the cue would be done in 3 months and that he had a bunch of repairs that held him up. I told him I would come back in 3 months for the cue or my deposit back, again he promised it would be done. I showed up at the end of the 3 months and sure enough no cue was even started, I was now at almost 2 years and he had since took off and I was now starting to think that he was never going to build me a cue because he was able to get double what he quoted me for the same cue. I asked for my deposit back and of course he didn't have the money, he asked me to come back in a few days and he would have it. I did get my money back and he was very apologetic. I told him I would still love to have the cue I ordered and that I could not trust him to make it with my deposit, but when it was done I would pay in full. It's been 5+ years since then and still no cue, I've seen him and had diner with him and not even a mention of the cue. He is a great guy who would rather fish then make cues, he may be very good at building cues, but he is a terrible business man. I know many people love his work and the way his cues play and I am not trying to talk bad about his work, he makes a nice cue. But I am just warning anyone here about his business practices. The man needs to work on that part of his business and the trouble is that as long as he makes a nice cue people will defend his actions.

Talked to him in early May of this year about his cues at a tournament he and I were in and at the time he had to borrow a cue as he did not have one, even back at his house from what he said. He really did not seem like making cues was all that important to him. That was one reason I did not even inquire about having him build me one and went with another maker instead. He makes a nice cue but his whole "vibe" that he put out definately turned me off.

What I like is the deflection, or should I say lack of. It is simply aim and shoot and the ball goes where you want. also you can stay arounds the center of the cue and get more action than you can handle.
Searings play without effort. the hit is hard to explain, but if you ever get the chance to hit with one, you will definetrly line up and wait for one.
just a note: I was at valley forge a couple of years ago and Bob Meucci had his robot there showing deflection and asking people to test there shafts against his. when I went up to him and gave him mine and was asked whose cue it was, his answer to me was "no".
