Delta 13 Elite Rack Question

So, I recently had my pool table tuned and leveled to perfection by Real King Cobra, the Michelangelo of pool table mechanics. My table is now an object of beauty and craftsmanship, covered with gorgeous fuchsia (dark pink) Simonis 860 cloth. Unfortunately, my crappy old wooden ball triangle is simply not adding anything to the beauty of my billiards room, and on top of it's homely appearance, my wooden rack seems to be making it harder and harder to get a good tight rack as time goes by.

So, I think I'm going to purchase a Delta-13 Elite in Hot Pink, and I'm wondering if I could get a little guidance before I buy. Could I please get the general opinion of the well informed AZB brain-trust? Is the Delta-13 Elite worth the $135 price tag?

The Hot Pink Elite is truly beautiful, and it would be a stunning addition to my pool room. I value the collective opinion of you all here on AZB. In your collective estimation, is the purchase of a Delta-13 Elite a worthwhile investment?

Thank you for helping me out here.

IMO it is not worth that kind of money. It's a good rack, but come on...$130? I would get the Magic Racks for a tight rack every time and a wooden rack and paint it pink. Johnnyt

Your Pinkness,

I think some of the money for the hot pink rack goes to Breast Cancer in some way or another so that might help justify the cost. The price is a little steep, but if it's more than you care to spend, Delta has a less expensive model (less than $50) just not sure of the color options - see if that comes in pink as well. They are both good racks.

Keep in mind, all the engraving regarding womens professional pool and wpba will be covered up once you realize how annoyingly loud the rack is without the optional leather inserts they sell (may come free with elites but still covers up any engraving, i'm not completely sure). Delta 13 racks are great but everyone I know that has one ends up buying the inserts to make the noise while racking a bit more bearable.

If I were you, *crosses fingers that never happens as I don't want a fascination with hot pink*, I would get either a magic rack set or the slug doctor setup ... both of these options are clear and will let your pinkness shine through.

*edit* get a regular rack, spray paint it pink and put it on the wall ... then use the magic rack or slug doctor, heh. Best of both worlds :)

I have the black standard Elite rack and I like it slot only thing I did was put some self sticky felt on inside to quit it down !!!!!!

If you want pink on your table, go to ebay and get a deal on a set
of Centennial TV balls, two of which are pink, and two are chocolate
which I'm told is a girls best friend.

The elite model has a bit more engineering to it and is proudly made in the USA.

I can't remember the specific details but the basic model either uses imported materials or is made entirely in China.

While anything above a c-note for a rack seems like a lot, your dedication to the color pink and your personal circumstances regarding disposable income will determine if it's the right way to go.

It is, after all, a fashion statement.

It's a expensive rack but you'll get a tight rack every time. There are other good racks that cost less but if you have your heart set on the Hot Pink Elite, it can be worthwhile investment.

I thought the Delta 13 racks were rather expensive but I went for it anyway. It's a great rack. Does a fantastic job of racking the balls. I really like the sounds it makes with the balls. It's the sound of quality. The Delta 13 Elite is double the cost of the 13 but if that's what you like, I say go girl. If you don't buy it, you'll think about it for years everytime you rack and kick yourself for not getting it. You'll probably eventually buy it anyway. So why wait. Endulge yourself because you're worth it. And seeing as how you have a magnificent table, set up by the number one guru of PoolTabledom, is even more reason to buy it. Let us know what you decide - it's only money.

Oh Paulie, you know you want to be just like me.... I mean, look at this rack! Yeah, that one too.

Thanks for the advice.

Thanks Indyelmo. About altering the inside dimensions of your rack by putting felt on the inside, have you found that doing that has altered your ability to rack the balls good and tight? Has it altered the performance of your Delta-13 in any way? This sounds like a pretty good option, but I have to wonder why the manufacturer hasn't offered the same alternative as a sound dampening measure. It makes me think that there may be a potential problem there.

Thanks Dave.... Your Pinkness... that's pretty dang cute.

Only the Elite comes in pink. Red might be an acceptable alternative... but that pink one is pretty awesome. I'll let you know what I decide.

OK honestly, the Delta is probably overpriced. BUT it is amazing and if you have a nice table at your house and pool room, then it is an awesome addition and well worth it in that respect

Oh Pete! You are a wise man indeed. You talked me into it. You're absolutely right... I am worth it!

I'm going to place my order for the Delta-13 Elite in Hot Pink TODAY!

Thank you all for your input! This community rocks!!!

Thanks Asiasdad. I already have the TV set on my table, with the pink 4 and 12 balls and the chocolate brown 7 and 15... I tasted the 7 ball... it was a bit too chalky for my palate, but I love the set anyway. Thanks for your input.

I do not think he put the felt on the inside of the rack. Delta 13 has channels on the outside portion of the sides that can be filled to dampen the noise - it does not affect the precise racking.
