Hi everyone,

Today is the beginning of the Delta Classic here at Samstown Casino in Tunica, MS. I would have to say this is one of the nicest arenas we get the pleasure of playing in. The people of Samstown Casino are very hospitable.

The tournament is a little different. Some of the more regular players aren't here, but at the same time some familiar faces have shown up for the first time in awhile.

My first match is at 12:45pm against Melissa Morris. I was playing alright tonight when I was practicing but we'll see how it goes. It is the first time in 3 months that all of us are playing in a pro tournament.

I will try to keep everyone updated. Feel free to ask questions. I will do my best to answer.

Take care,
Sarah

Who is not there that you ordinarily would expect to see?

Good luck, have fun, and catch some good rolls.

Oh and don't eat too much of that fried food they have down there. It's not too healthy :D

Hey Wally,

Three players aren't here...Ming Ng, Line Kjorsvik, and Fran Crimi. I'm not sure why they aren't here. I hope they can make it to the next tournament and that everything is alright.

I hope I can catch some good rolls too. And don't worry, the Krispy Creme doughnuts are more dangerous here than the fried food :)

Take care,
Sarah

Well, just to let everyone who cannot be here in person, I won my first match 9-2. She got some bad rolls and I played pretty good. I play the winner of Julie Kelly and Candi Rego at 9pm. I will keep everyone updated and give a more detailed report or todays matches after that match.

Take care,
Sarah

The second round of the day is over. Playing well and a lot of luck earned me a 9-6 win over Julie Kelly. There were many other exciting matches at the same time. Melissa Little had a nailbiter against Jennifer Chen. Melissa won 9-7. Vivian beat Jane Fujinaga. Sarah Ellerby beat Jeannie Seaver. Tiffany Nelson is playing great and defeated Monica Webb 9-5. Laura Smith beat Ramona Biddle, Helena Thornfeldt beat Susan Williams from Arizona. Our own Melissa Herndon defeated Sueyen Rhee. And Karen Corr defeated Ikumi Ushiroda.

Play begins in the morning at 11. I play Helena Thornfeldt at 7:15 pm. Be sure to check out www.wpba.com They have done a great job keeping things updated, they are posting scores along with results.

Remember to be sure to introduce yourself if you make it to the tournament. I had the pleasure of meeting one member today. It was nice to meet you Mike (maughunm) I would like to meet more of you.

Take care.

That's a nice win. I reckon playing her ain't no picnic.

Melissa Herndon def. Nikki Benish 9-6 and Sueyen Rhee (the score was not posted on the website)

Sarah Rousey def. Melissa Morris 9-2 and Julie Kelly 9-6

Great start for you and Melissa. Keep it going and have fun.

Thanks alot guys. I will try to keep it up.

Wally, you are right. It may be a picnic but it is an ant filled picnic. Fire ants at that. She plays great. Her shot making ability is unbelievable. I have the utmost respect for her game.

I believe the score between Melissa and Sueyen was 9-2 maybe 9-3. I know Melissa said she didn't miss a ball until it was 7-0.

We will both try to keep up the good work tonight. We both play at 7:15.

Take care,
Sarah

Today is over. Thank God. I lost my match tonight to Helena Thornfeldt 9-7. I definitely had my chances to win. It was a very long, drawn out match...a little under 3 hours. It is hard to stay focused when things move so slowly. I play at 11 am against Kim White. It should be a good match.

Melissa Herndon also lost tonight 9-7 to Melissa Little. She also plays at 11am but I am not sure who she is playing.

Take care.

The tournament run is over. I had a great tournament and I am very happy with how I did. I finished 5th place. I had some great matches today. First was with Kim White. She was winning 4-1 and it was a battle back and forth. I won 9-8. Then Sarah Ellerby. She was winning 6-2 and I got some lucky rolls and came back to win 9-8. Third was Tiffany Nelson. The score was 9-6. Then Jennifer Barretta. I won 9-3. Then to make it to the TV match I had to play Helena Thornfeldt again. She won 9-5. So it goes to show that I could be right there. Ga Young Kim also tied for 5th.

It was very nice to meet some of you that post here. I hope that you can make it to future tournaments and I and I am sure all of the other women of the WPBA appreciate the support.

Take care and hopefully I can do as well in the next tournament and get to meet more of you.

Sarah

Congratulations

Congratulations Sarah on your 5th place finish! It will only get better with your professionalism, dedication, hard work and your desire to win.You are an asset to the WPBA. Thank You Denny and Mike

Congratulations, 5th place is way above average (though probably like most pool players you just want to win). Keep up the good work.

Great job Sarah! You had some nice comeback wins, as you said. 5th place is great! Keep up the good work. If you ever play in Texas I will positively come and watch!

Congratulations Sarah. You did well. 5th place against some formidable foes. And earned 80 points.

Why did that match with Helena take three hours? That's about twice as long as a very long match. What happened? Did you both play very, very slow? Or was it a lot of defensive shots? That's about 15 minutes per rack. I sure hope it wasn't a stalling tactic on Helena's part to wear you down. But if it was, then you know that she is afraid of you.

Well, one thing for sure, they all know that you are no pushover, and can't take you lightly

Jake

Thank you everyone. I appreciate all of the support everyone gives me. It really means alot to me. I read all of the encouraging posts while I am here and it feels like all of you are right by my side. Thank you.

Jake, our match was really long for reasons I'm not sure of. It wasn't much of a defensive match. We did have some trouble with the rack that took a little time. The slow play was not really my fault. I will let you make your own conclusions about that. We should have been on the shot clock but I was losing something like 7-4 and started coming back. Most matches get put on a shot clock right away when they are moving slowly. In my opinion, every match should have the shot clock.

Again, thank you all very much.

5th place finish

It was great to watch you play...you made some incredable comebacks....We will see you on TV later this year I'm sure.....I enjoyed all four days of it....and it was nice to meet you.....mike

Thanks Wally. I appreciate it.

Mike, I'm sorry I didn't get more time to talk with you. It was a pretty hectic week. That is the most matches I have ever crammed into three days. I'm sorry about that. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself and I'm glad you had some good matches to watch. Sorry my matches had to be so nerve racking. I was just trying to get my moneys worth in all of the matches :) Thanks for the support.

Take care.
Sarah
