Delta / Metal Racks damaging balls ?

Hey guys,
Just a question if the brains trust can help.

I have a friend with a Delta who brings it with him to league nights to replicate the experience he gets from his home table racks,
and now the people who run our local league have banned the triangles as they are claiming they chip and scratch the comp ball sets for league nights.

We absolutely can not see that this is the case and its certainly not noticeable from a home perspective and are more inclined to think this is being done politically and also to disadvantage our side.

Can the fellow owners of metal triangles shed some light on this if you can please ?

If the Delta rack really chipped pool balls, it would not be so popular
Just saying
I have had a Delta rack for 10 years and there are no chips from it on my pool balls
maybe the place that is banning the delta rack uses very cheap pool ball sets and they’re chipping and they want to blame it on something other than their cheapness
last
I don’t think it should be necessary to bring a Delta rack to the pool room
If the racks are bad, they’re bad for everybody
You need to learn to play under those conditions
your friend is trying to bring home field advantage to league night which should be an even playing field for everyone

No way. The pockets might have brads, screw heads, staples and Delta rack is getting blamed,

What tables are they?
An he'll no a rack ain't gonna damn those balls. Just racking them there's no hard hit to make any kinda of chips or nicks.
Diamond table guys 7ft'ers. (predator Arcos II balls)
Most teams prefer the magic racks, some use the plastic diamond house triangles, and then there is the 1 or 2 that bring a delta / metal (i think its a copy called a Raptor 330?) but they are virtually indistinguishable side by side from what iv seen

There is always the possibility of a metal rack damaging a ball or cloth on the table. Less likely with plastic. It also might not be up to the league operator the room owners might not want them too.

I've had a Delta 13 Elite for about 15 years at home and its has never damaged my balls. The ball set is Super Aramith Pro. The Raptor 330 I never heard of.

There is a commercial room I used to play in a few years ago that has the cheaper, imported, Delta version. The one that is cast as one piece instead of multiple machined pieces screwed together. I have not seen any damage on those balls.

Why do you need a special rack for league?
Its not a "Special Rack", its just the rack the guys use at home and bring with as its a far superior rack (tighter packs) than the house plastic racks and the magic racks supplied in the room are never replaced and are sub-par !!

in that sense i disagree pal, every single part of the game should be able to be brought to the room to create an advantage for a player, the only standard should be the table and the ball set !!
If i want to bring any sort of cue, player or breaker, that has a certain tech in it, a jump cue, an extension, a rest head, a glove, pool glasses etc etc etc etc it should be allowed.
PS when the triangle is in use we absolutely allow the other team to use it to not only create a level playing field, but also a tighter rack for both teams is more beneficial to all !!

They are idiots. A delta13 won't damage balls.

Buy a plastic diamond rack and you will get just as tight of racks.

Maybe they don't like the noise.

we can agree to disagree

all of the above are things YOU use so thats why they are allowed
the rack is something you BOTH use
the league sets its standards for everyone
not just the table YOU/your friend play on

i understand the benefits of the delta rack and own one because it is great
if your friend wanted to bring his set of pool balls or his favorite cue ball should that be ok too in league play?
see what i mean?

No noise mate, as its in a crowded noisy room and the delta has the leather inserts, the Diamond tables being played on have the standard triangles but they are years and years old now and have seen better days ! :(

This actually happened at a room I used to play in. The old heads didn't like how noisy it was, so the room owner gave away the only rack worth a damn he had in the entire room. I was livid.

Plastic diamond rack. I have a delta13 elite and a plastic diamond rack. If you're used to the D13 it will take a few racks to get the feel for the diamond, but once you do it will produce identical racks. The people you are dealing with are nits but sometimes you gotta play the game.

So if the opposing team wants to bring a magic rack (an expensive version) and use that for their team only is that ok ?

And we are getting off topic buddy, the question on topic is asking if their reasoning is justified based on damaging the balls, not creating any sort of unfair playing field !!

as above, the supplied ones in the tables are some 6-8 years old going by how long the league has been operating and are the same ones since day dot.
When not a league night, the room is a general pool corner available for all punters in an alcohol infused environment so you can image the treatment of the stock equipment over the years and again the Diamond triangles are not being replaced or maintained.

no

to be on topic
the room owner can do what they want
its dubious at best to me that the delta rack is causing chipping of the pool balls
regardless
if your friend wants to replicate his home room results let him invite the league to his house
dont you see he wants to play on his terms
even tho using the delta rack is better than most racks than what is used in the room
the other players are used to the house racks
shouldn't they be allowed to replicate what they play with too?

Is the floor concrete? I've never seen a Diamond table damage balls, and I've never seen a Delta rack damage balls. Do you have a closeup picture of the damage? Is anyone still using phenolic tips?

Have said before ... The rack is noisy ..so rack gently. The rack is noisy ...breaking the balls is quieter? What a bunch of grumpy old mother shut my mouth. The traditional wooden Diamond rack will make noise if racked like a lunatic.
