So, Im looking to buy a predator shaft and while looking i found this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220819088994

They all look like older predator shafts, but they say that they are new and they are cheaper than any other new one or even a used one is about that price, but they are from a different country, so I am not sure what to think..

What do you guys say, are they knock off.'s? Or did they just stock pile 5 years ago and sell them as such...idk looks a bit slippery to me..

They have the pre-cats, 312-2's and the Z, Z2 shafts. Do you see that ring by the logo? They are all factory 2nds, meaning Predator couldn't sell them as 100% perfect. Some might have a small roll or imperfection in the wood. Some might have dark wood. You can't choose what you get, you pay and they send what shaft they want, not the model of shaft but the imperfection in the shaft, you can order the 314 or Z shaft but they determine what imperfection you receive. All should be in playable condition. I was always going to order one but end up getting a used one off AZ in great shape for around $120-$150. Hope this helps. Ron

For what it's worth I have purchased cues and cases from DeltaSport and found them to be professional and reliable.

Well if that's right, seems like a good gamble for a bar beater.

Like Dog, I also have had a few transactions with Delta.
Good communication and fast shipping. If you ask him for the skinny on the shafts, I doubt he will give you the shaft.

They are fine with great feedback. I sent them a PM on eBay a while back and that's what I was told about the ring and 2nd grade shaft. I will still order one from them if I needed another one. They told me I could return it if it wasn't playable. That is the reason they're cheaper because they're 2nd grade shafts. I was going to see if a cue repairman could fill in the ring and hide it.

Was it you that bought some California tips from them? If so, which side do you stick on the ferrule? The one I tried was rock hard - harder than a break tip, in fact.

I bought one of those shafts from Deltasport a while back (like last year sometime). I originally bought it to use it as a backup. But after playing a few games with it, I use it as my primary now.

The black '2nd' ring doesn't bother me as much anymore. I took some wood putty roughly the same shade and filled in the groove (less than a millimeter in depth). Unless you're up close, it's hard to see that line once I put the putty in.

Also, I sent an email requesting if they had 30" shafts available. Response time was pretty quick and very professional. The seller knows what they have, and knows what they're talking about.
I was still on the fence until they asked if I had a specific request for the diameter of the joint. If so, they were willing to try and accomodate me.

Good product, and very professional seller. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.

That sounds awesome, I think I might get a second shaft on them just to have.

Really? I emailed them asking if they have one that fitted a Mcdermott, and didn't get a reply.

I can only speak from my own experience.

To me, a decent response time on eBay is 24 hours. When I emailed Delta Sport at, I want to say it was around 4 or 5 hours later that I received a reply. I'd be hard pressed to remember what time of day I emailed them, but keep in mind that they are 12 hours ahead of the eastern United States.

2:00 pm here in New York State right now is 2:00 am Monday morning for them. Don't know if that plays a part in when you sent an email.

Again, I can only speak for myself, and based on my customer service experience, I would buy from Delta Sport again.

I'm not sure what difference time zones make. I emailed them previously about one for a viking, and they replied straight away. I figured they just stopped responding to requests for cues they don't stock, so ignored it.

My only reason for mentioning the time zone thing ? I've seen and dealt with people on eBay that consider an hour as 'too long to wait for a response', no matter what time of day it is.

No disrespect intended. Sounds like they did good on the request for the Viking, though.

Ha, I needed a laugh, nice wording. Also thanks to everyone else; all the az'ers that help to look out for a fellow table man...

This is very true, I had done some selling for a year on ebay and alot of buying as well, and response times are tricky on ebay.. It can depend on if you send it directly to their email or if it goes from ebay to their email, or if it just goes to their ebay inbox..then it can take a few days if they are busy..Also from personal experience I know it is easy to gloss over your homepage and not even go to/notice your inbox.

All the info is much appreciated, it all sounds pretty good, I may get a backup Z for my arsenal..Although if I can get the right deal here, here is where its at...

If anyone else has bought one of these and has any more knowledge it cannot hurt. thanks all..

Ya, it is odd, but predator rarely makes their shaft with a mcdermott pin, actually I just looked before I put my foot in my own mouth, and they do sell predator shafts with a 3/8-10 insert, not as many choices with joints and such..But it may have been that way with their older shafts, either that or they just sold out of them...

regarding delta sport...

i bought a lot of stuff from dennis = delta sport

i feel that he is very honest and a good person to do business with for the most part

but my buying many many things from him, i found that he is not very attentive to what he ships. for example; i asked for 12 of his style 'xyz cue' [for example] at 19 oz, but received all at 22 oz. and for me, there is never an excuse in cue purchases for this kind of gross error!! so i ended business with him, even thou most of what i bought from him was for donations to charity.

i am truly 'old school' and i feel that if you want a predator shaft, buy it from predator.

end of story,
all the best,
smokey

Predator shafts

You mention the shafts being from another country, aren't all Predator cues now made over there anyway?
