Good luck getting him to return your calls, or finding anyone who will part with their Searing cue.

Mike

Searing cues are very nice. I live near him and he often goes into the poolhall I play at. The owner of the poolhall plays with a Searing and its gorgeous. Dennis is a nice guy and was willing to talk to me when he was in there but he is hard to get a hold of when you call him. I was thinking about having him make me a shaft because I here they play nice. From what I here you cant go wrong with a Searing but expect to wait a while for your cue.

> A well known collector/broker in Memphis told me a few things about Dennis, and they make sense. Dennis is married to a very successful real estate broker in Florida, maybe even the best in the state, and therefore doesn't need the money he makes off making cues. He's a Bobby Fisher-type recluse, goes for weeks at a time without encountering a stranger, and likes it that way. When he's in the shop,he's so anal about his craftsmanship he's too busy to answer the phone,or reply to emails. This collector said he has 3 cues on order, that according to Dennis "are real close to being finished, all I have to do is spray finish and match the shafts." This was 2 full years ago. He also just made a high end cue for Kobe Bryant, and is about to make one for Shaq as well,so in his mind,he has NO time to make cues for the average buyer. The collector that told me this is pretty reliable on his info, and I have no reason to doubt it. If he's making cues for superstar athletes, who can easily pay for speedier delivery,he may very well be too busy for the rest of us. Stories about strange behavior from expert cuemakers are not in short supply, unlike some of their cues. Tommy D.

i know dennis and disagree with alot of this. he got engaged 2 yrs ago.
he does the best work accuracy wise in the biz. and cares very much about his customers.
last time i was there ( 6 hrs) his phone rang every couple of minutes.
he answers when he choose or can. and checks every single cel call. somtimes both phones are ringing at the same time, i dont know how he takes it i would throw the phone in the trash.
ive been in a lot of shops and never seen anythig like that, not to mention there was 8 or 10 customers dropping off picking up, tips, cleaning.

about being anal thats correct, but in a very comlimentary way i never seen anybody do work like that and dont think it gets appreciated as much because he hasnt been doing all the farout designs but theres no comparison. to get an idea just think that "S" is inlayed. nobody is doing as fine ofwork he is doing some inlays 0.010" thick everyone else is doing 0.031" and no tricks , some of what cuemakers do are tricks or allusions.

i didnt see those 2 cues but the one he made for pat riley was awsome.

for someone who works 6 or 7 days a week he sure gets knocked an aweful lot and if all this were true just ask where all the cues he makes go?

> If that is the case, then I stand corrected. The one cue of his I've actually played with was downright AWESOME. I hit balls with it for an hour, and was VERY reluctant to give it back. I TRIED to miss balls due to shooting with extreme spin, and the ball still went straight. It took effort and a shift in technique to get the cue ball to noticably deflect or curve, and I tried a lot of different things during that hour. Aiming with this cue was truly point and shoot, with my stroke at least. I wondered about where that particular cue was and asked the former owner, which started the whole conversation. Hope I haven't offended, and apologize,Tommy D.

I don't care how good a cuemaker is, if he doesn't have enough respect for the customer to return a call, he doesn't deserve to sell a cue.

maybee you just never been that busy?

do you return all of bob c-------'s calls? or how about rich f---'s?

evidently he does return calls how else does the customer know when to send the money cause the cue is finnished?

gee i think shon doesnt even take calls? i think they say something like how can i be working on your cue if i'm talking to you on the phone?

i think your believing too many stories, just go visit him in v.f. and you will see how nice a guy he is, nicest cuemaker since jerry f.
