Dennis Searing is making tips now

I have the Problem with the Medium, a bit to soft in the beginning, trimmed it down, will see tomorrow.
Have a hard on the other Shaft and it Plays damn nice from beginning, maybe Dennis can chime in and tell us the Durometer scale hardness on each:wink:

but they are good tips who mushrooms very very small:thumbup:

I've played 3 times with my new soft tip (around 2-3 hours each time) and I really like it. I switched from a kamui original medium, though I prefer soft (but was too lazy to change the tip because it came with the shaft). The soft plays great and so far I've had no issues. I holds chalk really well.

Experimented by putting a hard on my Gilbert JB, to see what the tip plays like. I like the tip from about 90 minutes of play, but maybe the real revelation was that the Gilbert JB plays just like a custom Gilbert and could be probably be used as an everyday player. Does anyone do that?

The S was soft as advertise.
The M I got is just about right. I played with it for two nights. It mushroomed a hair and re-trimmed it. Plays maybe a hair harder after some break-in period .
I've not tried the H yet.

Also, I have heard about some bruhaha at FB about these tips.
Take it from the people who cut tips and install them.
These are definitely different from non-premium layered pigskin tips.
Even the soft ones seem stiff when cutting. They ribbon very consistently.
The glue lines ( if you call them that ) are very clean.

Not going into what it compares to or are they better than the rest.
Let's just keep it as they are very very good layered tips.

Installed a medium a while back, here are some pics from the install :)

Prepped the tip with Loctite 401.

Installed tip.

I wont go to spefics yet as to how they play, I need more hours with it and maybe even a harder version of them.
Good quality tips so far though. They have a noticeably muted sound on hit and even when chalking it feels different than other layered tips I have tried. The medium feels to be a little on the soft side but it has been good to play with when I cut it down to 3 layers + dome. I'll chime in better when I get the hard version in and installed as I feel that may suit my game better :)

How have you guys liked them so far?

To get back to this with my final view on these tips after playing with both the Medium and Hard version of these.
They are great feeling tips, both of them. The hard feels very crisp and has a hard feel to it but without the annoying *clink* sound that many other hard tips are notorious for. Precision is different, even the hard has a somewhat pleasant sound to it. That said I do prefer the medium over the hard myself. I feel it gives me a bit better control and I just like the way it feels more. They both needed a bit of a trim after a few hours of play but after that both have held their shape well. I like to scuff them every few days of play just to keep the surface fresh.
The tips are of a good quality and fairly consistent from tip to tip. Of the three mediums installed one felt a little bit harder than the other two but there is always a bit of difference between tips from any manufacturer. They are nice to install and seem durable enough so that I personally feel confident installing them for other people aswell. I recently put on some mediums for a couple of friends from the weekly tourney, one already got back praising how he likes the touch and feel of the tip. Happy customer makes a happy installer

Dennis pulled of a good product for sure. I am not personally using the tips as of now as I have been playing with duds for a while now and I like them well to date.
I will still say that when the price is considered, these tips are really good competitors for the likes of Kamui and Zan. These play just as well, with a little different feeling than those but they perform flawlesly nonetheless. In the end nobody but yourself can say if it fits your game unless you try one out but they are worth their cost in my opinion

Here is a video on installing the hard tip to show how they cut. My apologies for the poor quality and camerawork.

Okay......I have been wanting to try out a Hard Tip for a while.

Has anyone tried playing with the Dennis Searing Hard Tips? What are your thoughts about them?

Thanks,

I have been playing with a Precision Hard tip since early December. It feels great, provides excellent control, doesn’t miscue, and hasn’t mushroomed. While I really like it, I don’t believe I could distinguish it in a blind test from the other 4 brands of excellent brown leather layered hard tips that I am using or have used (G2 Hard, Instroke Hard, Talisman Pro Hard, Moori III Quick). I also have a Kamui Clear Black Medium that is very similar to these tips and also fun to play with. I will buy a couple more Precision Hard tips for use in the future as needed. But I would not cut off any of these other tips prematurely because they are so similar. In addition to the qualities I mentioned above, Precision Hard tips are priced better and you can buy them directly from the producer which minimizes/avoids the potential for receiving counterfeits. It is an excellent tip with no downside (so far).

I played the hard and it's good. But if you like Hard try the ZAN Grip hard and you will never go back, spins easily, chalks very well and no muchrooming:wink:

DAMN! A "good player" broke his shaft because he kept miscuing? Something isn't right with that. Lol

I used to be able to jump 1/2 of a ball with my Performance cue but I put on a G2 Medium and while I like the tip, I can no longer jump even a half ball with my full length cue. That's not the reason why I am looking at trying out a hard tip. I just enjoy experimenting and learning how I perform with various tips.

I can't wait until Dennis starts identifying the precise measurements of each tip. That way if you like say a Medium Tip and you have a 5 number range, you can judge for yourself if you like a specific numbered hardness. AT least that's the plan for me.

Can't wait for an announcement on the new process of precision measurement.

I was trying to find a way to describe the hit feel of the tip, and I think you nailed it "muted". Just had one of the Searing soft tips put on, and that is about how it feels now. The hit does not transmit to the shaft/grip like it did with the Kamui Soft Black or the stock OB tip. But no miscues in 4 sets, although I don't feel as confident shooting with that tip for some reason as I did with the other tips. Maybe the lack of feedback from the hit.
