Derby city so few Pros

People always say the payouts are horrible which is why so few TOP professionals don't come. And that's likely the largest factor.

But how bout for the guy that has no chance to win the event but could win a handful of matches, that guys BEST CASE scenario is to win like maybe $200 in any event IF he plays his best and doesn't draw the top guys.

Payouts are a joke to be sure with all the buybacks going to the master of the table and or Diamond. Only maybe what like 5 guys could feasibly win that? Maybe 12 that could place top 3? So the buybacks are just an extra tax to everyone else in reality.

But In this one man's opinion the only reason to play for any player is to PLAY. This event has never truly been about money as there's way more money to be made in dozens of other events throughout the year for the players that do it for a living.

They play inside.
Yeahhhhh, but you still have to get there and get out afterwards. I imagine some travel by air and then transfer to ground transportation.

I was talking with a friend who goes most years and he asked me why I’ve never gone, I told him it never seemed like a good idea to drive from the East Coast to that part of the country at this time of year, the weather can make that a formidable trip. I’m sitting here trapped in the house now after 7” snow that was followed by freezing rain on top of it yesterday. Temps are well below freezing and aren’t expected to rise above it until mid week next week with more snow coming this weekend.

Maybe they got sick of no food? hahaha.

I haven't been since 2017. Is the food situation better now?
It's about the same as 2018-2019. But they added a White Castle vending machine in the vendor hallway lmao.

For the last couple days only one spot in the food court, "The Grill", has been open due to the snow. It's seriously rough.

Nice set vs Gorst. You almost had him!

Yeah, there are quite a lot less, but it seems to bounce around from year to year. I'm guessing many are tired of the bs scheduling, grind, location and time of year, and close to other events on the calendar.

For what it is worth, there was a comment by Upstate Al on the recent Turning Stone stream about a bunch of players, I believe he said Euros, not going to attend Derby something to the affect of because "what happened to Shaw", or as he says it "Shore". LOL They were talking about how a lot were not going to attend.
Aside from getting lost in Connecticut on his way back to Scotland, what happened to Shaw?
