Quote of the day:
“Piggy Banks was going to commentate with me, but he’s at the Waffle House.”
Sitrep:
The days dwindle down to a precious few … only a handful of banks players left. One-pocket about to commence, stream-wise. Will there be more one-pocket participants than bankers? (Around 353 bankers, I think. At least they’re not lawyers! Just kidding, my dad is an attorney.)
Minor Observations:
Near the end of the competitions do they lengthen the matches (more than three games) to better determine the best player? (Nota bene: it’s acceptable, grammar-wise, to split many infinitives these days.)
I can’t remember -- is it also three games for one-pocket and 9-ball?
There is one guy sitting in the front row. He’s smiles a lot and applauds good shots from every player. Seems like a nice guy, an ideal fan. Wonder who he is?
Spectator-wise it would be interesting to know who some of the other regulars are … what their back stories are.
Who are all the long-bearded audience members?
Could we have an off-button to mask serial coughing?
Who loses a match with the most grace, the best smile? Alex?
Who has the most care-worn face? The face of a life well-lived. John B?
Is TAR streaming at the Derby?
Do Filipino players employ longer bridges? (Why isn’t the term Philipino?)
Catch phrases:
‘Chinese safety’ -- leaving the opponent jacked up?
‘Going to the electric chair’ -- a shot of last resort? One you would take if your life depended on it?
‘The Banking Patch’, aka ‘The Patch’ -- several avails?
‘Trick Bank’ -- desperation shot?
‘A little bit kissy’ -- iffy choice?
Rule question -- commentator corner:
Multiple safeties on the same object ball, on the same rail. Number allowed? Penalty?
A couple of Danny D observations, (coolio division):
“He doesn’t have my permission to shoot that shot.”
(Facing a no-win situation.) “Let the other guy figure it out.”
The Fourth Estate is my life,
Sunny
(cub reporter -- amateur division -- talent not required.)
P. S. Isn’t it fascinating -- looking at the roster of players -- to note the internationality of names. A virtual United Nations of participants. Just a thought!
