Descending stack wrap

Ever have a crazy idea? I started this cue a year or so ago and never really knew why I had a BEM butt sleeve with ebony points. To me, that doesn't match. So, I thought I'd install a stack wrap that fades from black to natural. What do you think?

Hmm

Well, I personally didn't mind the ebony points with the maple butt sleeve....

However, I think the idea is good. The wrap though....I'll have to think about it, but I think if it blended just a more evenly throughout, it could be really nice. But....the more I look at it, the more I'm starting to like it....

:)

Its tough to blend it. There are 5 different stack wrap color/combos and this was the second time I put the wrap on. I didn't like the first one.

Yeah, I'm sure it is amazingly tough....but like I said, the more I look at it, the more I like it....just kind of a unique characteristic....

It looks like you sanded on end too much and went thru the dyed portion near the butt. I know you did the look intentionally, It just looks like that to me. I would think using natural color leather to start and adding black dye (thinned as needed) as you go might give it a smoother color change and look more uniform. Just a thought, good luck with the expirment. Chris.

Bump for more opinions and suggestions for a wrap if you do not like this one.

It's a great idea, I think I would like it more if the wrap was all like the first 4 inches(near forearm).JMO

i would have tried to fade it more like a rainbow - using the hues inbetween black and brown

black - very dark brown - dark brown - brown - natural

but of couse that would have been a lot of work :D

You know, everyone that sees a wrap like you described loves it. The black seems to spiral around the cue. I don't like it as much. I like a little more random.

i'd like to see an all black wrap with some stacked veneered boxes inlaid in the sleeve that match the points.

You know, most folks like a gradual, evenly distributed design. Some are different. Those who are different would LOVE what you've done. I think it looks really nice and I don't think the lack of even changes in color is a problem, at all. Wood doesn't generally have even changes, so why should the rest of the cue?

Just my 2 cents worth. :)

It looks cool Ryan...you've become quite the Stack wrap artist!
