The winners for the final event of the DCT (10 ball on 7' Diamond's) held at the Matatzal Casino in Payson AZ were;

1st Scott Frost
2nd Mitch Ellerman
3rd Jimmy Mendoza
4th Dennis Orander

Field of 50 players, $6000 added.

Not sure of the payouts, I believe 1st was over $2200

Great job guys, Dick

Bump for the morning crowd.

Not that I follow Scott Frost's every tournament or match up, but it seems he has a very high % of wins in both. I am I right on this? Johnnyt

I watched it every day. It was well run and Lenny, George, and Lisa did a great job. The Freezer played very, very good. Thanks for giving an old man something to do at home. dtpick.

Thanks for the kudos,we do the best we can and Lisa and George were a great help,I was in rough shape from lack of sleep,4 hours of sleep in 3 days so they did a great job of picking up my slack.George "The Voice of OTR" is such an asset to the pool scene here in AZ and does so much not just helping me at OTR but behind the scenes in any way he can, plus he is a hell of a player,he post on AZB as gum9ball.

Scott was sent to the 1 loss side in the 1st round. Considering that the tables were breaking tight (I personally did not witness more a 2 pack in 2 days of play) it is one heck of an achievement for Scott to come thru' the whole losers bracket and win this thing.

I should add that this was without a doubt the best pool playing venue that I have played in. The space around the tables was so large that you never had to check behind you.

A big thanks to Dennis and Jimmy for promoting a very professionally run tour with the Desert Classic Tour!

Bernie.

The match with Scott and Jimmy was very exciting, you should have stuck around for it.It will be on my site to be watched over again sometime today along with some other matches,it was a great tourney and Dennis and Jimmy put on a top notch event,I think this year will be even better! :)

Lenny Thank you and to your crew for bringing a nice quality event to ustream.

I was home sick all weekend and it was nice to watch some nice live quality pool while trying to get over this cold.

ps. Talking about horses eating grass was NOT the way I intended to get onto the DVD commentary track!

From what I saw on the live stream it looked like an awesome event. I was in envy the whole weekend... I wish I could have attended.

Hopefully there will be othe events like it in the future... Perhaps even a 9' event there would be tremendous.

Looking forward to seeing the 2009 tour info and schedule of events.

I know the top players preferred the 9 ft tables but the 7 footers made the tournament alot more interesting to be honest as some of the players who would have no shot or be a dog were even money with some of the top players.Scott Frost went hill-hill 3 or 4 times in the tourney, there were alot of upsets so to speak and I even handed a good player a loss. :D

God bless the 7-foot table. That's what I'm talking about. Johnnyt

Congrats to the players and the tour directors on a successfull season. I know the tour directors made it all about the players in the Desert Classic Tour and the players responded, nice to see. Its a lot of work, sometimes more than was bargained for, but worth it.

He did win a few events, but not all of them. Here are the stories and standings of all the tour stops this season.

He also missed many of them,I think he won everyone he played in besides the straight pool (2nd place) and bar table 9 ball event which he took 3rd or 4th in I believe.Did he get the points champion after winning in Payson?

Thank you all for participating and/or watching the live stream of the event. As I have said many times before, the Desert Classic Tour thrives because of player and spectator support.

The Mazatzal Hotel and Casino staff were outstanding and they made sure that we had everything we needed for the event. I agree with Bernie, this was the best venue I have ever played. From the banquet room, to the casino and suites, and even the food, it was all top notch!

We look forward to improving the tour for 2009 and hope to see you all at the first stop on February 21, at Kolby's Corner Pocket for Big Table 8 ball ($1k added).

Here are the results from the Championship (including side pots):

1. Scott Frost $2630
2. Mitch Ellerman $1610
3. Jimmy Mendoza $1070
4. Dennis Orender $640
5/6 Mike Pankoff $350
