Determining Age of Triangle Tips?

I just bought a box of Triangle tips. They seem old. There's a lot of dust in the box, and the tips have imprinted in the inside of the lid.

Is there a way of determining age, like a date code or something? Or perhaps an objective test?

I have cues with over 30 year old Triangles on them and they play great. As long as it doesn't look like they've expanded, should be fine. Installing one and playing a few racks will be your best bet. I have tips that are older than I am and they still shoot as good as I do.:thumbup:
 
I bought a box of old Triangles. They are old and I could not be happier.
35 tips will last me and a few friends for long time. I don’t know how to date these tips either.

Triangle Tips

I started using pressed Triangle tips about 20 years ago. They were all very consistent and they very rarely mushroomed. If they did mushroom I only had to trim them once and they didn't mushroom again. Now I find that even the pressed ones are inconsistent. Some play fairly hard and others are mushy. A cue maker told me the best thing to do is take a handful and put them in some water. Keep the ones that sink and throw the rest away.
