Detroit Pool Rooms..

Hey Book, Where is Blue Diamond ??? Thanks.

The Blue Diamond is buried on a side street down in Southwest Detroit. The room with the majority of the tables is behind the bar. Danny the owner really takes care of the players on Mondays, with a dinner special for cheap and an alternative in case you don't care for the pot roast etc.

It's near W. Vernor and Livernois on a street called Campbell, near Toledo St. Google it for a map. And BTW, you might be scared to get out of your car due to the seemingly tough neighborhood but neither I nor anyone else I know have ever had a problem. Lots of first class Mexican restaurants in that area too. Anyone can match up there, but the action can be pretty sporty...Tom

There is also Electric Stick north of Ford RD on Wayne RD. They have 5 9FTers and a number of 8 Fters. No leagues that I know of except for APA

So, since you have all knowledge of the Detroit (downriver and west side, at least) pool scene: Any weekly tournaments I might be interested in at any of those parlors ???[/QUOTE]

The only touraments I know of is Players Pool on 10 mile 1/2 mile east of Haggerty,Farmington. Sunday is 8 Ball, Monday is 9 Ball, ph.1.248.471.5095. From my understanding Hall of Fame has tournaments, I got that from Tom H.(Poolandpokerman) don't know if they still have them...........Charlie D

detroit pool rooms

ball and cue is by far the best room on the list. halls recently reopened under new ownership. there's also a new room opening on southfield and allen rd in allen park. its owned by a guy named julius. major nit..... hey das how's that pancerny coming along?

Its a 2 dollar entry fee I was told and they frown upon safety play

Hmmmm, THAT (frown on safety play) would very substantially change /affect the way I play.

If I don't HAVE a shot ... I won't MAKE a shot .... I'll run and hide!

Ball and Cue. Thurs night $15 nine ball. 9 ft Diamonds. Free practice if you sign up from about 6 until the tournament starts. One drink included.

Lincoln Park Moose. Sat night 8 or 9 ball on BB's they have 4 tables and good competition. Don't need to be a member. It is on Fort St about 2 blocks north of Southfield, enter from the parking lot in the rear. Looks like a service door. Get there early or any day as the tables are always open and can get a feel for the tables usually some kind of action.

Southgate VFW on Dix also has a tournament. I think it is on Sat night also. Don't need to be a member. They have 2 bb.

Isnt that where the old Mr. Billiards used to be?

no. ts in the complex with red fawn, the broadcast booth and marshall music right on allen rd. basically right across street from car tunes.

back in the fine year of 1970 and four, i used to play at The Fraiser Cue Club. it was the best, serious pool hall around. i was just a pool puppy but one evening my friend and i went in there just after we got done smoking a joint in the car. the owner looked at us and said that we couldn't play because of our "blootshot eyes" LOL! my friend was incredulous and started arguing with the owner. i went to the door and called him to leave.

there were some old timer players there who racked the balls without a rack. they'd get the balls in a V then push them up onto the spot and stop them with their arms. it was amazing... i wish i had taken straight pool lessons from them at that time because i'm now just learning what they would have taught me about the game 35 years later.............

There is an armed guard that sits at the entrance to the gated parking lot. Though a stiff wind looks like it might be able to knock him over. Definitely the place to be on a monday night, and the food is killer.
