Thanks for this. I was there and remember it well.

This, in fact, was not Tony's first TV appearance. When he reached the semifinals of PBT New Orleans (1997 or 1998, I think), he was on the telecast, which I watched, on the admittedly obscure Prime Network. It was, however, his first ESPN appearance and certainly his first appearance on any major network.
