Diamond 1 piece slate...pocket broke off...now what to do?

One afternoon, I was working on an old car. I was mixing and using a lot of bondo. I wasn't using a respirator like a big dummy. All of a sudden, I felt very light headed and the next thing I knew, I was floating up by the rafters and I could see myself working on the vehicle.

The next day, I told this story to a friend of mine, thinking that he would think I'm crazy.

He looked at me and said, " I know what happened, you had an Auto Body Experience".

:rotflmao:Really funny!!!!:rotflmao:

Zach...Simply amazing repair job on broken slate. It never even would have occured to me to use metal strips (inserted like that) to hold the pieces together. As Glen said..."Youse got some SKILLS!" It's very cool that there seems to be a developing list of highly skilled installers/repair persons all over the country. That's great to see, and a long time coming!

Great repair job...the pictures really show how amazing your skills are.

Must take a lot to crack slate that severly.

good job Zach, I have to keep this one in my notes.

Donny, this is one of the tricks of the trade I didn't have any chance to show you buddy, as we never had the chance to work on any broken slates, but seeing how it was done by Zach....you can for sure take notes:grin: When making this kind of repair, all you have to do to make sure the topside of the slate matches up across the break, is make sure the bottom side is flat, you do that by clamping steel flat bar to the good side of the slate to create a flush ledge for the broke piece to set on, which will hold it flush and flat to the slate you're going to be reattaching it to. I'm really proud of all the work you guys are doing that I've had the pleasure of spending some time with, as all of you guys have what it takes to be among the best in this business, this industry, as well as the customers deserve better, and you guys are providing that need!

Glen
