Diamond 7 footer vs. Valley bar box APA rules

I know I beat this one up, but: running multiple racks on a Diamond "bar table" where it is open if you make a ball vs. make it take it on a Valley "true bar box" are not the same thing! Apples and oranges. Not apples to apples.

I would love to watch SVB, Darren, Bergman or Sky play 100 games on each and compare stats. My prediction...Diamond 7 footer when open after the break if you make a ball: 45 Break and runs. Valley bar box with coin op ball and make it take it: 30 Break and Runs.

Your predictions?

I'm not sure this even dignifies a reply but you do realize the rules and the tables in no way go hand and hand.

I don't really think the table makes a difference. It's a known fact you have more break and runs on an open break vs closed break.

What's your argument again

Tell me something, what makes a bar table a "true bar table"? A 40"×80" playing surface? Or does the table have to have bar box balls, and a bar box rack too? A bar box in its true definition, is a coin operated amusement device, so does that mean a non-coin' operated 7ft table, same size as the Valley table....is a bar box too? If Valley is the only true bar box, where does that put the Dynamo, Shelty, Diamond, Great American, Eagle, American, Global. ...and all the other ever built coin operated pool tables through out time?

I always thought the bar boxes were the 6 footers......the 7 footers are just 7 footers. The bar boxes were put in to save space in little bars I thought.

Any...coin operated pool table is a bar box, since they're all found in bars, they're only defined by size, not the make.

My prediction is that no professional player would ever stoop so low as to play by silly APA rules. "Hey Strickland...what did you do with my pocket marker??"

I beg to disagree. I believe good shortstops all the way up to world class players would
break and run out many more times on a valley than on a diamond. I am including 8 ball,
9 ball and 10 ball.

Agreed. When you can shoot down the rail and nounce off the second diamond and still make the ball, then you can make anything. Hence, valley tables will yield much higher runouts in any game. Not even close

Ask Sky Woodward about it. A few years ago he was playing on the table next to me in Vegas at the National APA tournament. I believe he went 2 or 3 and out.

He's not a Pro But Mikey Frost who is a member here and was on the hustlers tv show plays APA also. He told me a couple weeks ago that his team is qualified for the regional to go to Vegas.

You'd be surprised who still plays the lowly APA rules still. Playing in Masters APA I can count the slopped in balls on 1 hand from this session.

Apparently you missed the "Clash of the Titans" challenge in which pros did exactly that...
