Diamond 7FT vs Valley/Cougar

Look, it's NOT the table that makes the shooter, the shooter understands the table, and plays it as such. If you practice on a good table, your game gets better, not because of the table, but because you have to adapt your skills to the table in order to play. It's them same skills you have to take with you, when you play on ANY table no matter where you're playing. So your game is controlled by YOU the player, not the table, not the cue, not the balls, for all them changes in the GAME...you adapt to the environment, you DON"T let the environment dictate YOUR game, but you practice on your OWN equipment at home, just don't let the tables you play on outside your home decide on what you practice on at home. Buy a quality table, I promise it WON'T hurt your game...LOL

Are you aware that Diamond's with Pro pockets, and Valley tables have the same 4 1/2" pocket openings? And with BOTH tables having the same pocket openings, the Diamond is the harder table to play on? And if the Diamond is the harder table to play on, wouldn't that in fact help your game...when it comes to playing on a Valley...being the easier table to pocket balls on? Just a thought:D Using the same cue ball of course;)

Glen

I UNDERSTAND ALL OF WHAT YOU ARE SAYING, AND I'M NOT DISAGREEING.

WHAT MY POINT IS...... IF I PLAY ON A VALLEY WITH 4.5" POCKETS WHEN I'M GAMBLING, I'D PREFER TO PRACTICE ON A VALLEY WITH 4" POCKETS. (SMALLER TARGETS) JUST MY FEELING.

THE DIAMONDS PLAY DIFFERNTLY THAN VALLEYS, OTHER THAN JUST SHELF DEPTH. THAT'S WHY I WOULDN'T USE DIAMONDS FOR PRACTICE TO GAMBLE ON VALLEYS. DO YOU AGREE WITH THE STATEMENT THAT THE TABLES PLAY DIFFERENTLY OTHER THAN SHELF DEPTH?

I AGREE THAT IT IS HARDER TO GO FROM A VALLEY TO A DIAMOND, THAN THE OTHER WAY AROUND. BUT, I STILL WOULDN'T PRACTICE ON A DIAMOND TO GAMBLE ON A VALLEY.

I hear you, but for my own, I play better on a Valley after playing on a Diamond, as the Valley is soooo much easier to play on than a Diamond:grin:

Glen

PS. And yes, I CAN play...LOL

TO EACH THERE OWN, THAT'S THE BEAUTY OF OPINIONS.....

P.S. I GET OUT BETTER ON DIAMONDS THAN I DO ON VALLEYS. DON'T KNOW WHY, BUT I DO.

There can be a lot of reasons for that, cloth, balls, cue ball, environment you're playing in etc,,,

Another different condition is Diamond, to the best of my knowledge, uses Artimus rubber bumpers while Valley (owned by Brunswick) uses cheap Chinese rubber bumpers. The shape and dimensions may be the same but the two play nothing alike. Jay Helfert has it correct. 3.5' x 7' Diamond's are real pool tables, not bar boxes. Forgive me Greg, I know better:sorry: !

Well, you're almost right...LOL Diamond don't use the Artemis cushions on the 7ft tables, as far as I'm aware, they only install that cushion on their 9ft models.

The 7fts do have the K55 black rubber cushions tho, and play good.
