I can't speak for everyone.
I say no for many reasons, some guys n gals use spray glue in the pockets.
A current diamond table has no wood slate frame preventing a staple install, it gets big boy 3M*10+simonis+proper install=happy diamond.

I saw Diamonds being recovered and 77 was being used.

Shame on them'
It can be done, but there is many down sides to it.

It's like one of those things..we all know which shoe goes on which foot, but some ding-dongs get them switched around some how and never know it until someone says something to them, or untill it backfires on them.

Its not so much of a Diamond/Spray 77 thing, it is more of a Simonis/Spray 77 thing. Spray 77 just is not strong enough to get the pull need to make Simonis play the best. I don't know about other mechanics, but I do not feel comfortable stretching Simonis 2 1/2 inches side to side with Spray 77 on it. I have a feeling I would be on my butt across the room as soon as I stated pulling on it.

That said, I have and do use Spray 77 on tables when it is necessary.

I was shooting league at another location with Diamond tables and was happy to finally see Diamonds apart. I asked about glue and that's when I found out they used 77.

I have 14 Valleys in my place. Having used 77 on some tables and 10 on the others, I found that 10 is superior for a tight stretch. Also, the tables with 77 are getting loose with the high humidity in Alabama this summer. The ones I did myself with 10 are still tight.

Spray 77

3m changed the formula for 77 about 4 years ago to meet the new laws in california.

So the old glue wouldnt get accidentally sold in washington, oregon and the surrounding states but end up being used in california, they marketed the new glue to everyone west of the mississippi river. Everyone to the east still has access to the original, better holding 77, but it is now labelled as 77 classic!
I learned the hard way after redoing about 20 valleys before rkc learned me up on fastbond 10.

Good luck,

I need to point out that I'm not a mechanic ...

I don't have 3M10 on my 7-foot Valleys because no one in these parts uses it and I'm too slow. It took me 6 hours on each of my two 8-footers. I'm getting better at rails but I'd wind up in the hack work section if I posted pictures.

I may do one 7-footer and make a template to speed up applying the glue to cloth. Do any mechanics here use templates for common table and cloth combinations or just chalk a line on the stretch index?

Glue and stretch index. After you do them for a while, they go much faster. Where is your pool hall located?

I'm in North Alabama.

One of these days I'll get a chance to stop in and see ya, maybe spend a little time with you going over recovering some of your tables...if you have some Dr. Pepper and Church's chicken around:grin:

Church's chicken.......did u pull up on the sponsorship of Popeyes?
Careful! In the south I hear they still shoot people on the spot for treason..
Or is it just a Sunday thing that you eat church's chicken in place of going to church on Sunday..
Hehe
Only on a Sunday' this area needs some sunshine!

If you do make it to Huntsville and Steve's Cue & Grill, we have a KFC right across the street if that'll work, but there are Churches around. But why do that when we make a damn fine 1/3 lb hamburger on the grill at Steve's. Dr. Pepper is down the street at Krogers and I'll get you a case.

Talk about Alabama and Auburn or any SEC football team and NASCAR. Avoid talking politics and Zimmerman. Don't play Scully, Andre, Big Tow, Louis, Bret, Ollie, Guy or Glen for money (and they don't play for fun). Besides gambling isn't allowed in Alabama. ;)

These guys were installing Simonis on Diamonds with 77.
