How does the full size (41/2 X9') rails bumpers compare to their bar table?

General question on playability and preference:

Which table do you like to play on Diamond or Brunswick Gold Crown?

Trying to choose home playing (practice) table.

In my experience, the rails play the same on the 9ft as they do on the 7ft.

I think the real question is, since you're the one playing on it, which table do you prefer to play on? It'll be in your house, your the one that has to play on it everyday and lug it around, I'd say, your preference is going to matter more. My preference is a Diamond. All the way...but if you don't play on Diamond tables much, and play on Brunswick tables, then maybe the Brunswick is the choice. It's all up to you.

Thank you,

I am trying to make an educated choice. If I get a GC most likely will be an older used one, Ex poolhall war horse.
Diamond will be new or tournament used.
Trying to keep around $5K or less. I am getting the impression after talking to a lot of people on this site that Diamond is definitely a great table. You definitely see them represented at about every top player event. The Olhausen dealer near me bashed them and said "They just got deep pockets and are pushed by players who own company" Hey he was trying to sell me an Olhausen.
Anyway Brunswick fallen a step? Diamond gaining a step?
I heard Tony Robles at this past Allen Hopkins event livestream compliment the Diamond table, and he is know to advocate hard for the Brunswick GC.

A while ago I replied to a thread about Diamond small and large Smart Tables. One table mechanic who posts here regularly said the rails are not the same material. Same shape and dimensions though. Both the new Brunswicks and Diamonds are great tables. So are the Gabriels.

The GC's and the Diamonds do play differently. Some say the Diamonds bank "shorter" and reflect balls at different angles. The pocket shapes are different. The slate depths in the pockets are different as well. Put the same quality cloth on either, keep the humidity down and they'll both play great! Personally I prefer a Diamond. As there are none commercially available within seventy miles, I play on GC's most every day. The new owner of our pool room ordered a Diamond for the room. Can't wait!!!

One important note, if you have only basement or attic space, don't look at the Smart tables. They are one piece slates. You'll need a Diamond Pro series.

If you have a top notch mechanic set a GC up like RKC or Mark Gregory, the GC is a good choice that will save you a little money. If you don't have access to a top notch mechanic, a factory Diamond Pro-Am is the way to go. I've always preferred a GC (if it is set up right) but there hasn't been a good playing GC in this town for 7 years. I've been playing on a Daimond Pro-Am for a year now and love it! It is the most solid table ever built and every single rail plays just the same as the other. IMO, Greg and Diamond outdid themselves designing this table! Plus, the Diamond just looks so good... If I think to take my camera to the poolroom later I will take some pics of Bartrams Diamond side by side with a GC.

I used to say that the rails on a Diamond table played short but now I say that the rails on a GC play long.....

I can't stand the Diamond rails. They bounce way to hard. Otherwise they are great tables (IMO). Before you buy one, you must play on one to be sure the reaction of the rails is ok for you. It would be foolish of you to spend several thousand if you never played on one. If you are coming from a Gold Crown background, you will either love the diamond rails, or hate them. Try one out and then you will be able to make an informed decision, based on how it plays to YOU.

I've read that the 9' Diamond's have the Artemis rubber; whereas, the smaller tables have Diamond's cushions, black in color, often just called Diamond or Black or Diamond Black. A very good standard quality cushion. Often recommended as the best of the regular cushions. However, the Artemis is regarded as the best cushions made.

There both good tables but you should support who supports pool players and thats Diamond.

Heres the number for diamond
