Did "It's George" make real lizard cases?

It's George did make some real hide cases, but very few, and pricey.

'weathered look' is another term for beat to hell.
and that musta been one giant lizard! Like Komodo dragon sized, and with an unbelievable repeating pattern on his skin....

^ "with an unbelievable repeating pattern" that does not occur in nature unless the reptile had more than one belly and back...

Old Georges?

I do believe the first It's George Cases were real Leathers.
When I visited Mike Roberts and Bill Schick in Sherevport, (Back in '93?)they had the case makers in the next room from the cuemakers.. They had Elephant, Ostrich, Eel, and Smooth leather.. Blue Ring Tail (or blue horn) Lizard, the Brown lizard.. etc..
I bought 2 Smooth Black Leather cases.
These were the 1st generation It's Georges'.
The one on e-bay photo looks like the old ones( short lip on the end caps and SS Rivits).. Could be real...
If anybody knows Don Weathersby (Spelling) ask him, He was with Mike and Bill in those days..
Wasn't Mike going to start up the George case again?? A few year back??

Yes, he did start it up again and is using Omega Billiards as his wholesale distro point. I ordered a 2 X 4 smooth black back in mid April 08 from Billiard Warehouse (retailer) with a few minor modifications. Just the large pocket, no strap (just a handle) and no It's George Logo on the top of the case lid (just the bottom) as they are now doing. Six weeks later the case was delivered with what appeared to be a cosmetic damage or flaw near the bottom back of the case.

I contacted Greg at Billiard Warehouse where I ordered the case and he contacted Omega Billiards and a almost a month later they sent me the UPS form to slap on the box to send the case back to back for another.

Two months later...case came. This one had a strap (which I could have lived with) but the clasp on the lid was difficult to open or close. I mean you really had to force it open with your thumb as well as down. That was two weeks ago and I'm still waiting for Omega to send me the packing info to send back and then an eventual refund from Billiard Warehouse.

Bottom line...when you compare the new product with the past made 3 X 6, 2 X 4 and 1 X 2 styles that I currently possess there is no comparison. Someone needs to do a better job at looking at what's leaving Mike's shop.

Sorry to hear that

When It's George started (about '91??), they became one of the best cases on the market at that time..
If I remember correctly, Ernie G. did a moisture test on some cases and said the Felline (Spelling) and the It's George Cases did the best in keeping moisture out..
Does anybody recall this "Test" and would like to give more info??

same case different color

i have one that looks identical only in black. mine is leather. chuck

interesting. i dont know about any test but IMO vaccum cases are the best cases to protect from elements and changes in the enviorment. heat cold moisture ect... i just wish they were jast a hair bigger. getting 2 butts and 4 shafts into them are a tight squeeze sometimes. i have accually ruined finish on my shaft squeezing them into the case. now i stick with my played and 2 shafts and my j/b with 1 shafts. 2 butts 3 shaft max

I have a beautiful near new and mint black Ostrich print 3X6 original. Stylin! It can get tight in there, so I use it as a 3 X 5 at most. Also, as an everyday case, the smooth polished black plastic top and bottom won't look too smooth and polished for long. A pretty look, but not too practical.

It gets a lot of comments though. Mostly, "A what? ......... never heard of it"
Ahh time marches on.
