did you play with "Josey"?

Great guy, great cue. I have a wrapless with a Josey shaft and a Predator shaft Keith made to match the cue. Some of the best wood I have ever seen.

Find one and try it first I had one for a couple of months and traded it because it hit way to stiff for me. Four months is a long long time to wait for something you may or may not like.

Thanks a lot guys
It helps a lot and I made my decision already!I'm going to get one of his SP!!!!
does anybody know if wrapless cue is a lot more expensive?
and how long does it take him to make a cue?

4-6 month wait time also make sure you ask him about the blank he will be using to build your sneaky. He buys them some where and they are not perfect so ask him if there are any imperfections in it so you can add inlays in those areas. By wrapless do you mean a standard cue with no points or just a wrapless sneaky?

I've heard nothing but good things about them, and want to get one at some point.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Do you guys have his regular shaft or a timeless timber one? I currently play with a Viking with a 314-2. Which shaft would be less of a transition for me, deflection-wise?
2. This is a general cue question, but how much different would a Josey plain jane hit than one of his sneakies?
3. Finally, on his website when I look at the plain janes, there's a cocobolo one and a cocobolo diamond wood one. What's the difference?

Thanks for the info.

i have a question to add too

i like thinner tips and was thinking about getting a josey cue with 12mm tip, any comments from people who've played with a josey shaft at or close to a 12mm tip?

By wrapless I mean wrapless sneaky.
And what do you mean they are not perfect?
I thought for that kind of money I was supposed to get a perfect cue ( i mean without any dents or cracks =))))) )

Mine's 12.5mm, not much difference, just that I like it that way..

Josey

If keith sends u something it will be right, u dont get the reputation he has sending out less than perfect cues.

I ordered mine and waited 5 months to get a less than perfect blank. Where the ebony met the maple at the base of the splices they were not perfect and a large sliver of wood was missing that he just filled with clear. I called him when I got the cue and told him about it. He said he sends them out like that all the time and no one has complained. For that kind of money and the rep he has here I expected more! He had me send it back to him and he put inlays where the blank had damage. I had the cue back in a week fixed and ready to go. He did not charge me for this and stands by his work. Just save yourself and him the time and explain EXACTLY what you want the cue to look like.
As far as switching from a 314 to a josey shaft just order it with a 314 and save yourself the trouble of trying to go back to a standard shaft. I wish I could go back and get the predator I sold before I bought a new cue. Just my opinion. Oh and all of his sneakies come wrapless you would pay more for the wrap.

sir, you should not have any concerns about a josey cue. mine is perfect. if you are not satisfied, keith and sherri will make it right. they are great folks to deal with. JOSEY ALL THE WAY!!!

Thanks man
I'm having second thoughts now....

Personally, I do not think you should be having 2nd thoughts at all, but that is MHO.

I find it rather interesting how there can be over 20 positive responses, and then the ONE negative response seems to wipe all the rest away. The reality here is that there are just some folks who will never be happy with something, no matter how hard one tries.

What I will tell you is that the cue I had was flawless. Inlays were tight; fit and finish were outstanding, and on par with Keith's higher end cues. Since you were considering one of his fancier petes, the issue that ruggz mentioned above would not even be a consideration, and there would be inlays at the point bottoms anyways. I have seen some of Keith's less fancy petes without the inlays at the point bottoms, and they appeared to be just fine, and without the 'Grand Canyon' type of gaps mentioned above.

Bottom line here is that Keith has a very excellent reputation to maintain, and I highly doubt that he would let anything out of his shop that was sub-par.

I would really highly suggest that you CALL Keith and Sherri and speak with them on the phone about your desires for a cue, and about your concerns as well...at least give them the opportunity to address them, instead of taking the word of one individual here on the forums. You do yourself and the Joseys a disservice by not talking to them before making your final decision.

Here are some links to other threads here on AZ concerning thoughts and opinions on Keith's cues:

I am not going to say that ruggz experience wasn't factual, as I am not privy to the details...but I can say that there are very few of us here that have not had at least one 'lukewarm' experience with a custom cue. With some makers it may be more the 'norm', but I would say that from Keith, it would certainly be atypical. I know that it is not going to sway MY decision to go with Keith and Sherri on my next project.

Please be sure to post pics of your snooker cue once you receive it over in the Cue Gallery section...most of us are really into eye candy! :yeah:

Josey cues

Josey Cues are by far excellent cues for the $. If in fact 1 person had a issue, he did immediately take care of it. I own 4 Josey's and highly recommend Keith. His attention to detail is usually spot on. You can not go wrong no matter which cue you order.
