When playing 9 ball, I know the 1, 5 & 9 are money balls. What are the designated balls in other games?

in hawaii, 5-9 rules over sets any day of the week. if one player was giving weight to another, he might offer more money balls that are available to his opponent only.
i haven't seen any other money ball games. i think they might only be available when playing rotation games.

The 1 has never been a money ball, except in possibly a regional variation. Other money balls depend on which game you're talking about. 8 ball, Straight Pool, and One Pocket have no money balls. In 10 ball, usually the 5 and 10. 6 ball, only the 6. Games such as Razzle, Chicago, and other regional games have different money balls, depending a lot on where they are played.
Look in a BCA rule book and there is probably some explanation of the basic games which depend on certain balls being made in order to win. I don't think they correspond to money balls, though.

I have only seen 9 ball played using only the 9 ball or the 5 & 9 as the pay out balls.
Another game I have played using money balls is called Red Ball. The money balls are the red balls 3,7,11 and 15. Played in rotation the lowest numbered ball has to be contacted first.

when your playing a ring game, as i'm sure this is what your refering to, any balls you and the other people playing in the ring agree on using as money balls are the money balls. typically, in the standard 9-ball ring, only the 5 and 9 are used, with a 1:2 ratio. but again. this can be broken up to whatever you want to do. say if your playing 5 ball, there arent very many balls to use in each rack so you might only want to use the 5 ball as a money ball. but if your playing 15 ball rotation, you might choose to use 4 payout balls. its really up to you as there is no set standard.

15 balls racked with the Red balls in a diamond shape inside the rack. The 1 ball on the spot. The 15 ball in the center ( where the 8 would be in 8ball ) and the 7&11 behind the 15. The 3 behind the 7&11. All other balls at random.
Played in rotation all balls stay down unless there is a scratch on the money balls or a scratch on the balls immediately preceeding the money balls. Ball in hand behind the head string on these balls.
Money is put up and divided equally for each pocketed Red ball. The game ends when all the Red balls are pocketed.
A great game for playing partners also.

A lot of different money balls in games of rotation, often called payball, money ball, and about 5 more names depending what part of the country your from. Pay balls (called ways) are the 1,5,10,15, and total points (you need 61 or more for a way). The called shot version is a good game for singles or partners. Johnnyt
