i have been watching some of the 10 ball matches on utube and notice that with almost every player their cue has a different sound when the cue strikes the CB.....from the sound of a "thump" to a more of a "crack". is it the different tips they use, the cue itself or a combination? i have a predator with a moori medium and when i make a smooth stroke, the sound is more on the low end of tones.

Poink

that is the sound that mine makes.
After that sometimes you even hear a ball drop into the pocket.

I like my cue to "tink". Its a combination of cue construction and tuning the tip. I've got a full splice Hoppe conversion with a Tiger Emerald that has that perfect resonance that I think sounds great! IMHO:cool:
Normally though, the harder the tip the higher the tone is the rule.

I use a soft kamui on my schon it sounds to me like a cash register. LOL But with another shaft I use on my schon has a triangle tip an there is a ping. Point being for me tip hardness loose tip or cracked ferrule affect sound.
