Diliberto in Chicago

It appears that the Chicago area is once again going to get the opportunity to learn from a legend. Danny Diliberto is coming to the Chicago area on September 22, 2009 and staying until October 10, 2009 and is available for lessons in straight pool, one pocket, and all pool games for that matter. He recently had the pleasure of doing commentary for Accu-stats at the 2009 14.1 World Championship where a former student of his, Stephan Cohen, surprised the field by taking first place, besting Mika Immonnen 200-181 in the championship match.

After winning, an emotional Cohen squeaked out a few tears and went to Danny and embraced him, saying, "I owe this World title and everything I know of straight pool to this man. He gave me all his knowledge, and I wouldn't have won without him."

I also heard through the grapevine that Billiards Digest is doing an article about Danny and his pupil, Stephan Cohen.

We will probably be arranging lessons at the Illinois Billiard Club and at Red Shoes primarily. Contact me to schedule the lessons which Danny is still giving away at the ridiculously low price of $50 per hour. Get the tip that could turn you, too into a champion.

Just booked my lessons with Dennis.

Can't wait for round 2 with the Great Danny Diliberto. 3 hour lesson. Hoping to break early for some question and answer time. I have a page full of questions I would like to ask him.

Dan is the Man

Some years ago, Danny stayed with me for a month. Naturally we played pool. He showed me how he runs the balls in 1pkt. It was then that I realized that I hadnt a clue before as to running balls. He also knows every kiss, combo, and carom that could get you out of trouble playing any game, except banks of course. We should leave that game to the Beard himself.

I guess I forgot to mention his ability to read the stack. Very uncanny and something I intend to work on with him when he gets here.

I should mention that Danny is available to meet at other venues in the Chicagoland area, too. In fact I just booked a 4 hour session for Danny at the students house in McHenry, Illinois.

So, don't be shy. pm me with questions.

He will teach beginners as well as advanced students. Last year he gave a lesson in 14.1 to Bob Cozzzolino who is shy about his high runs but had run 100s in the past. Bob loved the lesson and went on to win the World 14.1 qualifier at Drexeline in Philly over some strong competition.

He said he could go up there from the US Open. You'd need to get a few guys together or take an all day lesson or something so he could cover his travel and lodging expenses. Let me know how many hours you can put together and I'll talk to him again about it.

bump for Danny Diliberto

Danny D is giving lessons 12-4 at Red Shoes in Alsip, Illinois today and 8-4 at the Illinois Billiard Club in Willow Springs tomorrow. Although he is pretty well booked this weekend we are scheduling lessons for him during this week, next weekend (Sunday at Red Shoes, so far), and possibly during the next week before he leaves for the US Open.

Stop by and say hi or watch the man. He has some of his books and dvds if you would like to buy one.

Although Illinois Billiards Club is a private members only club, I am inviting whoever is interested to come to the club tomorrow and either just check it out, watch Danny a little, or play pool or 3 cushion for the guest rate of $4 per hour.

Contact me if you are interested in setting up a lesson with Danny.

videos of lessons

Danny has done 11 hours of lessons so far this trip.

We also have booked 4 hours tonight, 4 hours Thursday, and 6 hours Friday, and 2 more so far on Sunday.

Here's some vids of a couple of the Saturday lessons:

These were at Red Shoes. The setup was a little better at the Illinois Billiard Club on Sunday and I'll probably put those up in the next few days.

Sherm:

I also had problems - sound but no video. I had an online chat with a customer rep at magnify.net and he called in the technical guys and the problem was fixed. They told me that they had earlier put in some new code that caused problems for a selected few, and that I was one of the "lucky ones". Anyway, it works now, try it again.

Dennis....Just curious...Have any of the students requested One Pocket lessons from Danny, or has it always been just straight pool?

No, he does one pocket if the student wants it. He has been doing some 9 and 8 ball with some of the guys, too. Some he is teaching more basic stroke stuff and it might be easier in the context of a 9 ball lesson.

Here some Sunday lessons.
