I remember my first cue ever got beat up pretty good while i was learning to play. It was a clumsy era of dropping it on the floor, baniging into the table, counter, light,etc.. Time has passed, I'm getting better at pool and getting nicer cues. I have learned to handle cues more carefully and am somewhat picky about having NO dings or scratches on my cues, especially the shaft. Though i am extremely careful with cues now there is one problem i have yet to overcome. When shooting, or breaking, I like to keep the cue very level, to the point that it slides along table rails. This is not a problem on many tables, such as Diamond which uses nice soft leather for the corners and such, but alot of the tables around here are are not so cue friendly with metal corners and metal running along the rails. So, careful as i may be, some tables will scratch or ding my cue around the joint area on my normal shot, or break shot. I have thought about just not going to places where i dont like the tables but that would eliminate 90% of options. Arrghhh!! What are your thoughts on this subject? When you shoot certain shots, is your cue so level that it touches the rails?
