Dirty balls

Just started playing with a new set of balls today and they're sparkling clean. After one break and finishing the rack my cue ball is covered in blue chalk. Maybe it's because i own the balls or something else but i've never noticed it as much at any hall or on Tv, so does this mean i have too much chalk on my cue (i can't see this being it) or is it normal? I'm sure i'm just being anal but i wanna know how you keep your balls clean (colorful humor welcome)

Well, once on the Johnny Carson Show, Johnny asked Arnold Palmers wife what she did to bring luck to her husband before Golf tournaments. Her responce was that she would kiss his balls, Johnnies responce to the answer was I will bet that makes his putter stand on end:eek:  :D

So, I was thinking the same procedure could be used to clean your balls. It may take a little more tounge action, but it will work, and it may even make your stick a little stiffer which is great when you are long stroking:D :D

Have a good night!!!:)

Warm soapy water keeps my balls super kleen and smelling pretty after extended use. Though I must say that dirtying up my balls is the best part of my day. Playing solo style is fine with me, but it's always more fun with a partner. And I always encourage a small ring game of 2 or 3 partners. But remember to only allow one set of balls. For if you were to play with partners who brought their own balls, then you'll spend too much time worrying about who's balls are whose and which ones to use. In times such as these you'll never get to play and you'll be stuck with only your blue balls which of course are your 2 balls.

Hahahahaa these are great, i'm actually crying over here. Also the advice on cleaning them was good as well. :)

Drew man you kill me!!! My favorite "cleaning method" so far, but it won't let me give you any rep :( ;) :D

...wow...

quickest thread hijacking ever? but of course, you knew what was going to happen, and you can't tell me you're unhappy it did:)

Your table is getting the balls dirty. Clean the table. Some like a vacuum
cleaner but I use a clean damp towel.

Most people don't care for their equipment. Simple as that. This is especially true of the halls themselves.

The tables collect the chalk that falls off the tip when the CB is struck and it ultimately covers your hands and of course the balls in play. The dirt/chalk can accelerate wearing of the cloth itself too.

This is a MAJOR component of "skid". Dirt/chalk from the dirty table gets on the balls...the results are what you are seeing. In exteme cases, you can actually see a ring of garbage on the balls as they roll down the table. It makes me very unhappy when I miss a ball due to skid.

IIRC, Carson said "I'll bet that makes his putter flutter."

I always wondered if Carson somehow knew about that story and set Palmer up, but Carson was a brilliant quip man and could have come up with it on the spot.

For its day, it was one of the best to ever slide by the censors.

I too just bought a new set of balls, and after the first game or two I noticed the same thing. Also, they seemed to have alot of static elec. on them which increased the dirt attraction as well. Wiping them just increased the static. The table at the local pool hall is pretty dirty, guess after the "newness" of them wears off and they get knocked around and nicked up a lilttle I probably won't notice it as much. Kind of like when you get a new car you try to keep it clean all the time and after awhile the new smell goes away and the nicks and dings start adding up.

Never wash balls in soapy water. They need some wear on them and some dirt to throw. Dirty balls throw better than clean balls. Just leave them alone. When you see a smudge clean it off with a towel. Spend most of your cleaning your cue ball as it gets the most crud on it from being struck with a chalked tip. Buy a small bottle of ball cleaner and use it on the cue ball. Put just a little dab on the ball, smear is to cover it fully and then rub it off with a dry towel.

I have dirty balls and I am damn proud of them. Any of you chicks want to see them, step right up. :D :D :D

...theres always chalk on the cueball. I wipe it on my shirt or put it in my jacket pocket on my break simply because this guy told me it can cause balls to slip off angle. No-one else seems too though...

I can't help myself.

Two ladies are shopping together at the produce market and one lady picks up two potatoes and holds them in one hand and says to the other, "These remind me of my husband's balls." The other woman replies, "My gosh why? Because they are so big?" And the first woman replies, "No, because they are so dirty!"

:D

According to Lewis Black, he has a "personal ballwasher", and I don't think he even plays pool.
