Dirty Pool

Yup.

Sometimes people are a little too quick to judge I guess. Some of the best people I know are broke bikers. Some of the biggest scumbags I know wear a suit. Somme of the baddest dudes I know are pint size. Some of the biggest wimps I know look like monsters.

Colorful characters in pool halls? Love it. Always have. But as you imply, be careful judging. You never know which one might kick your ass, own your bank note, be doing your wife, own half the town, or run you off a pool table,or know more than you.

I think I might be a "colorful character". LOL!

I can see where trob is coming from. Insecurity and inadequacy.

He can take his pile of cash and go home to his big house. I'll crawl back in my mother's basement. LOL!

Just wondering if your mom has an extra couch the way the stock market is going?

I wish top-tier pool benefited from more professional, televised coverage, but I don't really see that happening, cleaner image or not.

Just make sure the nicer pool halls are well kept, smoke free and noise free (meaning less low IQ hip/hop). I'll be satisfied.

Diversity is fun...pollution is not.

Even before I had played on a 9' table I was going to Hard Times the end of 89 and in the early 90's. Weekends were like a Wild West Show. Continuous action for big money. Every light in the tournament room seemed to have 4 figured money posted. Characters galore. I had never seen anything like it and was entertained beyond belief. The lifestyle was not something I could participate in as I had a family and a business but for entertainment it was the nuts.

I got hooked on the pool hustling culture when Big Mama's in North Hollywood would have all-nighters. Ronnie Allen, played whoever came to town and they left the doors attended but open all night. Then there was the cheap game crowd at Mother's, Buffalo, Mark, Little Jeff. Seems everybody was some kind of hustler after your money. There were ring games and all kinds of cheap action. Every facet of society was represented from hustlers to gamblers, crooks, cops and champions. It was like Pleasure Island in Pinocchio. Once you entered those doors, it no longer mattered who you were on the other side.

Pool halls are the ultimate hang-out place. The good ones always have something going on.

And I'll bet if one walked in thinking different there would be an attitude adjustment made at some point. LOL!
