Disappearing threads

What's up with Threads disappearing?
1. Jack Justis "Pro-Lite" Interiors Thread
2. Thread about the current prices of SW cues

I think AZ has David Copperfield for a Administrator because threads are disappearing.

AZ mods can do that as they please for whatever reason, and especially if they feel threads are:

1. Unproductive
2. Too negative
3. Not worth digging up and rehashing bad vibes
4. Just plain, not right

threads get deleted for bashing and when members get too out of hand with cursing and name calling. be careful what you ask for bc david copperfield has made a few members disappear too for the same thing your doing now... you might meet him.

just a heads up :-)

personally i think the mods to a great job. they do whats best for the many one the indivigual.

Great threads go south and they disappear. I hate when that happens.

I don't blame the Mods as much as I blame the posters who can't keep chat somewhat respectable.

Some of the idiotic comments made on the Southwest thread were all (4) of the above.
The thread wasn't out of hand but I thought some of the ridiculous statements made were annoying, and I'm sure one of the mods was just as annoyed as I was.
It was deleted before I could submit my reply.

Hopefully this thread will be the next one to go.

Some threads are deleted because they are not posted according to the established rules.

If they become controversal and are in the wrong section it is easier for the mods to just delete rather than move.
We can make the mods job easier if we make sure posts made in the for sale section are done so properly.

Why would this thread be deleted? No one has gotten out of hand, it's in the right section, and it was a ligament question posed by a fellow board member?
I can understand things getting totally out of hand but most of us on this forum spend a lot of money/time when it comes to pool. So I am happy to read threads when someone is happy to show off their new toys and or sell a beautiful case or cue etc....
But I am just as interested to read when a person or business has done someone else wrong (at least in their opinion they were done wrong) I know people have strong feelings on both side of a lot of issues but it's not necessarily a bad thing air out one's concerns.

I agree in most cases, and threads rarely get deleted.
When they are unnecessarily digging up dirt on a legandary cuebuilder, threatening to sue them because someone paid more 7-years later, is annoying and non-productive.
Nobody is perfect, and those comments are part of the reason so many cuebuilders and pro-players don't post on AZ.
It's not about how much money people spend on this forum, and in my opinion those attitudes are not helping the game.

I live in Vegas to as you might think I see more SW cues than just about anyone and I know Al pretty well. Legendary or not if someone does something shady it should be fair game to discuss.

The original post stated that they were quoted a price to build a cue. He agreed and come delivery day the price had doubled. If that truly happened that way, then SW pulled a shady move and should be called out for doing so.
If SW took the order and told the customer that it was a 7 year waiting list and therefore they could not give him a accurate quote until 6 months before delivery then cool the price is the price buy or don't buy and everything is cool.
What's wrong with getting to the bottom of an issue?

An issue?
It happened several years ago and you sold the cue right away.
You had no problem making your $$ back.

The Southwest thread was about current pricing, not something that happened several years ago.
Since most people that have been collecting cues for a long time have had "issues" with cue & case makers, why not just trash every thread.
WFS, cue gallery, cue review, case review, everytime something is posted regarding a craftsman where someone has had an "issue".
While we're at it, lets throw some table mechanics under the bus.
I live in Denver.
What if everybody I know who has had "issues" with Jeff Fugal got on here and trashed your A-E sale thread.

What's wrong with expecting someone to live up to their word? If you say you are going to do something for a price you do it. What's so hard to understand about that?
As far as throwing people under the bus, I am never for that unless someone has a legitimate issue. I believe it's a good thing to inform the public of the GOOD & if any the BAD issues people have had in the past with any person or business. That way others can make an informed decision if they would like to do business with that person or business.

I don't see a problem with southwest raising their prices to reflect current market. I'm sure is tthey knew ppl would be paying 1200 and selling for 2500 they would have not quoted 1200. I've seen original paperwork from the 2000's.

If I'm not mistaken when you get the call that in 6 months your cue will be ready that person is more then welcome to deny the cue. If you don't want to pay the money. Don't. Simple.

I don't have a problem they can charge what ever they like for their cues that's business supply and demand so to speak. If they tell you up front that the price of your order will be determined 6 months before delivery then cool. Take it or leave it when that days comes.
However if I have paperwork in hand with a price quote of let say $1,700 for a cue I commission to have built, then when the delivery date comes I expect to pay $1,700 it is just that simple.

Here is a good analogy. I buy a new home pre-construction for $200,000 in a new home community. 6 months later my home is done, however the base price for the model of home I bought is now selling for $250,000. If I close on the home I will pay $200,000 if I do not close on this home it will go back on the market at $250,000. It's the same thing, you honor your original agreements.

It's called inflation. Welcome to America. I doubt anyone has paperwork in hand with a 7 year old quoted price. I have been wrong. See disclaimer below

What are you saying, that it is OK not to keep your word? When you are quoted a price to do a job that company have given you their "word" to do the job for that price. Not to do so put their reputation in question.

Laurie Franklin has nothing to gain by coming onto AZ and defending the business practices at South West Cues.
Their 10-year wait list speaks for itself and I am sure there are two sides to the story.
I have never heard a negative word about Laurie or they way they do business at South West, and since you got porked their list has grown from 7 to 10 years.

It would be unreasonable to expect them to hold prices for 7-years.
Again, lets see how many threads we can trash with "issues" that have little to do with the OP's question.
Out of courtesy people don't bring up the excruciating minutia of every single "issue" they have had in the billiards industry.
Most of the time they get worked out, but we could still bring it up.
If we did you would have more "dissapearing threads" to complain about.

It would be unreasonable to expect them to hold prices for 7-years.

I don't disagree that prices go up over time, of course they do. If I inquire about the price of a cue and then 7 or 10 years later I again inquire on the current price, I would totally expect the prices to be considerably higher now vs. then. That is not the issue here!!!!

However, if I custom order a cue, paperwork is generated stating exactly what the cue will weigh, inlays, points, wood that will be used etc.... and then finally a price was agreed upon for example $1,500. Then when the delivery date comes I will expect to show up with $1,500 and take my cue home. If I decline then I would fully expect them to sell my cue to someone else at the current going rate. Therefore if they can not or choose not to deliver a cue for the quoted price they simply should not quote you a price when an order is taken.

Now I want to be perfectly clear on something here. This issue has not happened to me. Any person I have ordered a custom cue from has delivered the cue for the agreed upon price. These posts are strictly about being true to your word when you give it to someone else. I can't believe anyone disagrees with that........

South West Cues

Now I want to be perfectly clear on something here. This issue has not happened to me.

I have two friends that I talk to about cues every week who have been dealing with South West since the 80's and I know several others.
Nobody I know has ever had that problem.
Again, I'm sure there are two sides to the story.
Probably a miscommunication or worst case a change in their policy.
The new SW I bought was exactly to the penny as quoted.

If South West was pulling "shady moves" as you say, more threads would have been started and I doubt they would have a 10-year wait list.
