DM & HAL, SHORTY & MIKE

Being that he's such a pain in the a$$ to most people, it's only fitting that he's only as tall as most people's a$$. Maybe 30 + yrs of people's gas fumes up his nose has hindered his ability to mature.

That's funny. If it was different circumstances, i would really LMAO.

HOWEVER, the banning of DM and HAL makes me sick.

To moderate is to manage; management based on emotion and favortism is the worst kind. I read every post on the HAL THREAD, everyday. Some were funny, some were not, but SHORTY was, as usual, out of line. But there was absolutely NOTHING "ban-worthy" in that thread.

By banning Hal and not Shorty, Mike has failed miserably. He is now as biased as the PMs he receives from Shorty.

There have been countless flame wars and even personal attacks that were much more serious, which Mike chose to ignore, or let the thread die a natural death (which they always do) There are much worse posts everyday, some will even request Mikes "assistance", yet to no avail. UNLESS it is one his obvious favorites, like Shorty or Marissa. (nothing personal against you, Marissa, I think you're a sweetheart. Just making a point).

However, due to Mikes PERSONAL FEELINGS towards DM, Shorty and now HAL (go figure), he bans the wrong members. If memory serves, DM only had one reply in that whole thread. Yet everyday, lil Ms Shorty was replying with rude, snide, smartass comments.

So if SHORTY gets his panties in a wad and cries to Mike-Daddy, daddy steps in and fixes the problems for lil' ol' mini-shit.

Yessir, you really showed em, Mike. Way to flex your muscles on this one.

Well, other than the extreme left liberal (who also thinks Saddam and Hitler were just misunderstood), you have not made any friends, 'O Great Moderator.

You have reinforced your prejudiced protectionism and established a precedent that not even you can maintain, less you end up with a "Forum" comprised strictly of Newbies selling their Lucasi's and Fury's, along with Short-Shit telling them they're priced too high.

NO ONE knows ALL of the facts so NO ONE should be saying anything about Mike's practices or what they think DM or Shorty said, either in PM or in public. This is Mike's forum and he treats people as fairly as he can, do you think moderating a forum pays the bills? How much time do you think he can devote to the petty squabbling between two E-idiots?

If this was your forum you would have your own set of rules, as would I. Letting things go longer than they should have and "flexing his muscle" by banning someone is against the rules? On what planet?

Yeh but I am every other poster on this message board has email and the ability to click on the ads that are run on this site and paid for. We have input in that we can let the sponser of this forum know how it is run, we can let them know that they are advertising on a message board that is loosing more respect every day due to it's shoddy moderators shady practices. We can send emails en masse that AZbilliards is NOT the premier message board for the pool community. One single person on this forum that finally gets sick of it and decides to start a new forum would put as much pressure on Mike to finally get his act straight and act just as the IPT did to the UPA and the WPA. Mike atm is just making room for a new message board to take up the reigns if he keeps doing bullshit like this. He can run a message board with 2 members, Shorty and himself.

Hal was TEMPORARILY banned after I asked him twice to call a truce with Shorty. I looked over the jabs between Hal and Shorty and in my opinion, they were both in the wrong. So I asked them both for a truce. (So that I wouldn't have to ban anyone and have this whole thing erupt) Shorty accepted my request, while Hal ignored the request and then went on to continue bashing Shorty and the price he was asking for something. Another note went to Hal saying that a truce had to be called betwen he and Shorty. That request was answered with a public message from Hal on the site saying how he was wronged. No reply to me however. So, he received a TEMPORARY ban. Funny that I received an email from Hal almost immediately after he was banned. Had he sent an email after one of the two PMs I sent him, then we would only be discussing DM right now.

No one asked me if Hal was banned for good. They just assumed that he was and ran with that wrong bit of information. He received a one week ban just like DM got a month or so ago.

DM is a completely different story. I don't care whether he was egged on or not. If he has that little control over his emotions, then this is not the place for him. He has been asked over and over to back off with the vulgarities and attacks on other users. These requests have not just come from me. They have also come from others on the forums. He ignored each and every request and continued to basically do as he pleased whenever he pleased. He finally did it one too many times and got the ban that he deserved.

I see many people claiming that there is some special group of users that are protected. There are no such users. When ANY user does something that I think is out of line, they will get a note saying so. Usually I get a "OK, I will back off. I am sorry" reply. (Shorty, Marissa, etc) Sometimes I get no reply so another PM goes out. Sometimes I get a "You are an idiot and I just can't control myself. That is the way I am. Deal with it" reply. So, I dealt with it.

I find it interesting how everyone seems to know best how to run a site like this. I signed on to run a billiards website. Not babysit a bunch of so called adults who want to turn this into grade school recess. I have said it before and I will say it again. Attitude like what I have seen from DM has killed other sites and I will not let that happen here. This is "the premier message board for the pool community" and I intend for it to stay that way.

If someone wants to start up another forum where anyone can do whatever they want, then more power to them. I with them luck as they will need it.

As for emailing my sponsors, it isn't too hard to find their email addresses. I am sure people like Kevin Trudeau and Matchroom Sport will be very interested in knowing that Drivermaker was banned from here. I am sure I will have a long talk with each them where they ask me my reasoning and slap my wrists.

Mike, I do believe this to be the only Billiard Forum worth looking at, let alone being an active member of.

My post (above) was based on my perception that there was a trend emerging, in which certain members were receving preferential treatment. Your explanation, and obvious passion about maintaining a quality site where ideas and valuable information about our sport is freely exchanged, makes me realize that my perception was wrong.

Though I will maintain that temporarily banning Hal without doing the same to Shorty is curious, as it takes 2 to tango. Be that as it may, I will respect your decision since there are facts and circumstances that remain unknown.

I really appreciate the fact that you are leaving the threads intact so people can see for themselves what is happening.

My suggestion is that you call a temporary ban "suspended". That way we can all understand what's happening without guessing.

You might save a lot of stupid posts if when you ban someone you post it for everyone to see and explain then maybe it will cut down on needless posts.
Should not take too much of your time. And by the way someone did ask what kind of ban it was, check out post 44 on the Are you happy Shorty thread. And I know it was easy to miss and there was a lot of bull going on in that thread that you may not have read them all.

Mike, can I suggest having a site policy that the first thing you do after banning somebody is make a public post detailing why?

This would serve both to head off all the fruitless speculation and associated arguing, and to provide education to other posters as to what is considered appropriate behvaiour here and what is not. You might also want to consider using a sticky to keep these at the top of the forum for a while.

Shorty, can you read that? People that feel the need to run & tattle tell as much as you do are just as much a pain in the ass, if not more so than the people that go off on a tangent. As an adult, I dish it out (just like you do) and I also take my lumps (unlike you). People have said things on here that I didn't exactly approve of or I thought they crossed the line... I either told them what I thought about it or I ignored them. I sure as heck didn't run crying to Mike asking him to come babysit a forum full of adults because I was too immature to take it like an adult. I'm having serious issues getting around a 30+ yr old "adult" showing his ass on here & then running to complain to Mike when someone defends themself against you or says something that you don't like. You prided yourself on the other thread about how great the ignore feature is. If YOU used the ignore feature instead of feeling the need to play self appointed moderator, then Mike would have less of a headache. Shorty, I can put you on ignore... what I can't ignore is your need to be the tattle tell on something that doesn't need tattled on but becomes an issue because you make it an issue, & I can't ignore the people that are no longer here. Seems to me that Shorty did not stick to his truce like he said he would to you. According to the time of the posts and your supposed timeline Shorty did not remain silent or stop the snide remarks. So Hal at least had the guts to tell you to your face that he did not agree with you. Shorty instead lied to you and continued his sarcastic and snide remarks despite telling you he would quit.

I guess lying is the way to get ahead with you? If you tell us to quit doing something all we have to do is tell you sure thing and then go on doing whatever we were doing despite what you told us? Because that is the precedent you are setting now.

As I have stated before, I do not have the time or inclination to read each and every post on the forums. I did not notice Shorty's jab after he agreed to back off and had I seen that this morning, he would have joined Hal in the ban. Now that I have seen the message, this has been rectified.

As for my objectivity being in question, that is your call. It doesn't have a lot of weight, but it is still your call.
