Do Chinese Made Pool Products Also Contain Lead?

I just can't believe no chinese cuemaker got in touch with me.

Then later, to the one who did from Shanghai, thanks.
When I'm in shanghai, I'll phone. Next summer.

If you don't gnaw on your stick you should be safe.

Exactly. Being in the Industrial Painting industry we deal with old lead based paint quite a bit. Stuff with 300,000 parts per million lead is very bad for you. These toys and whatnot have maybe 100 parts per million lead. There is still lead present, but it would take someone "gnawing" the paint off and eating pounds of it to get any serious adverse health effects. There are two ways for it to get into your body: inhalation and ingestion. If you don't eat it you should be fine. Now if you start sanding the paint off and breathing in the dust then you may have a problem but still you would have more problems from clogging your lungs with dust than the actual lead.

Just like asbestos removers. The air particles of asbestos fibres are smaller than the capillaries in your lungs so they get lodged in them and can't be coughed out.

Regardless we shouldn't have to be worried whether our childrens toys are painted with lead based paint. This isn't all we have to worry about. How about pet foods (previouly mentioned), pet toys, pet treats, auto tires, pajamas with flammable materials and toxic chemicals in the cloth, food grown and harvested in China, dishes, plastic ware, food storage containers, bedding products.

The fact is we don't know what they are adding to these products and neither does our FDA. The Mattel toys were found to have lead paint in Canada and THEN we found out about it. Why? Now Mattel makes and official APOLOGY to the chinese gov. b/c their manuf's put lead paint on kids toys????? Go figure. Mattel now tell's us that if we want SAFE toys we ( Americans) will have to pay more for these safe toys. Why? Was the price lowered when they originally went tp China for toys? NO. Now we must pay even more????? Boycott Mattel this Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boycott anything made in China as much as possible.

Jeesh, other countries do not have the same standards and government controls that we do. Why did you think they did? Our US standards have changed greatly since I was a kid.

No one drank Bottled water for example, you got a drink out of the tap or the hose outside. Some toddlers got their drink out of the dog dish.... LOL

All we are doing is building up their industries to compete with American industries and technology to where they will be competitors, and eventually take over the marketplace because of lower prices. (Toyota, for example). And the USA will be helpless, partially because Unions have pushed increases to the point where some people get paid more than the job is worth to the company, one example would be a skilled worker with no college education making over $68 bucks an hour on the line in Detroit making cars.

At one time, the whole US Navy used lead based paint on all the ships in the Navy. Not to mention, all the sandblasting they do, and in confined areas with almost no ventilation.

Nafta, Cafta, Shafta!!! We are building other countries economies and depleting our own at the same time.

If you read the details of the Mattel apology notice, I think you will see that they did not apologize for the lead paint problem. They apologized because the vast majority of the products recalled were for other design deficiencies that were Mattels' responsibility. Mattels' initial comments placed most, if not all of the blame on the Chinese manufacturers when it was really mostly their own internal problem.

Does anyone know if it is made here or in China?

It is made in China according to Bill Stroud's specifications and design. Bill Stroud is the cuemaker who makes Joss West cues. Joss West cues are, for those that don't already know it, one of the very best playing and looking cue brands in the world.

A lot of innovations in cue construction and design have been invented by Bill Stroud and are now implemented in cue construction the world over.

Not jealous. Don't have to or want to pay for sex. It was just a thought trying to help John out with his issues.

Watchez,
You are not helping anyone out with your rude comments. All anyone is trying to say....if you would shut up and listen. We are all concerned about the issues and with all the recalls seems like it is being researched very well. Why don't you take a chill pill and if you don't own a cue from China then don't worry about it. Also in one of your previous post you said something about a child chewing on a pool cue????Why would you let a child that is teething have a cue. It is wood and there are splinters. Are you not watching your child as you should????? You confuse me and from what I've read a lot of other people too.
