Do I need to fix my cue?

FERRULE REPLACEMENT....
Typical , easy to take care of....
Usually $$ 30.00 to $$ 50.00,
Depending on what cue tip you go with....
If its an inexpensive cue,
Go to ebay,
buy a replacement generic shaft for about $$ 50.00 , shipped,
JOERACKEM carries "players brand" shafts- most common joints too
I have bought a few-
Always consistently good

I think this is good advice for you- buy the replacement shaft as this suggests, just know what your joint screw is before ordering or, if you love the shaft you have, send it to Muellers in Lincoln Nebraska- you can find them online, and for about $30 get a new tip, ferrule, and they will clean up your shaft like new. You will need to pay postage both ways, buy a shipping tube, and wait about 30 days for the return.

What makes you think I will quit?

My friend, don’t listen to half of these forum heroes who keep reading thousand of books about pool then go into a match and miscue, who also study thousand of aiming system and still miss balls, they mostly got it all wrong.

Pros don’t read books and they don’t got aiming system, trust me pool isn’t about that.

Listen to me, forget books and don’t listen to those that tell you’ll quit, no you won’t quit.

I’ll give you an advise which is what you wanted from the get go.

Do what I did, I knew nothing about terms or cues either, throw that cue and don’t buy Walmart cue but instead get a cheap cuetec cue from eBay, or maybe Players cue as someone suggested, this is what I did.

Shoot with that nice baby cue for a year or two, this time will make you further understand what you like, keep at it bro.

Pool is a fun game.

:rotflmao: No offense, but since he was responding to me...

Is your post about him or you?

"This is what I did"

"I will give you advice"

"Do what I did"

"They mostly got it all wrong"

"Listen to me"

Obviously it wasn't about me, he was given a straightforward advise which is what he asked for.

I was in the same boat as him which is why I am relating to his story, but obviously you misinterpreted it because you didn't like what you read, I'd suggest for you to go back to Reddit instead of being a downie here in the AZB forums, oh and you got no experience, he will not quit, how on earth you come with that conclusion based on two or three posts, this is ridiculous to say the least.

You don't need to buy a book.

There are places that will loan you one, or twelve, or twenty. They will even hunt them down and have them shipped interstate. For free.

Now these places are dying off, but some still exist.

Cannot recall their name at the moment, starts with the letter L, I believe.

If you pay attention, and you're thinking is not "all about you" which your post clearly identified you do, it's easy to spot personality traits in a couple posts.

... Pros don’t read books ...
Which is sadder, someone who can't read or someone who won't read?

There's lots of good info in books if you find the right ones. Info that can shorten your learning time. Or, you can be like most of the pros and play for ten hours a day for two years and sort of figure it out on your own. Except for the gaps.

Wait pool is dying? How come? There is a billards hall where I live but other than that all pool is in bars. is that part of the reason?

I live within an hour radius of the Wyoming border.

Basically it was how you said it. You came off as a snob. If you would have said dont buy a walmart cue buy one of these. Then given me 5 different cue's in the "walmart" price range that would have helped more. Also why do I need a book when I can google terms. You could have linked to past threads on pool terms or websites and such. That would have helped way more then just telling me to not do stuff and buy a book.
Sorry, but you can’t buy a decent cue in the Walmart price range.

Completely disagree with you, reading books or forums can diminish your learning and stalls your progress, as a matter of fact you start to overthink the tiniest stuff, that you will became a worst player without you knowing, some people might relate to this, if you're in the group of people who used to be good, and once you start to read more, and try to overanalyze and overthink everything, you will notice a decrease in performance and playing worst.

I know a guy who used to shoot the lights out, a natural player, who just shoots and knows how to control the cueball, he just goes down and shoots the way he used to since he was a little kid.

Once he started reading online and buying books, he now keeps adjusting and wanting to change so many things in his game, his momentum in a game even slowed down as he analyzed everything, from stance to vision to stroke, now he dropped from an A player who had a chance of becoming pro, to just a B- player who just overthinks everything.

Dudes, just shoot, shoot for many hours, let the muscle play.

No forum lacks ignorant posts or thinking. It's always the worst though when discussing things of purposefully developed understanding and skill.

Even Pro's use Pro's.

I'll lay odds on it.

It is interesting how 2 of the things you said are forum things and unrelated to leagues.

Anywho you are correct I am still up in the air about pool. At least doing it on a league. I don't know what anything will be like. I don't know what the people will be like. I don't know if there will be any rules I will not agree with. There are tons of factors that could make me quit. Or I could love the league and sign up.

Well if I do quit it just means pool was not a sport I liked. I love axe throwing. And throwing other things in general. But so far there is only an axe throwing league. Also I enjoy martial arts.

Regardless of game or sport, I feel leagues are kind of awkward unless you know at least 2 people on the team, or preferably everyone. League play in the APA made me feel like I wanted to always be on the other team. Also, the local leagues only played on 7' tables and I was told you couldn't play on a 9' regardless if the other team agreed on it. Your results may vary, but if I didn't already love the game, there's no way at all I would of kept playing pool. Also at surface level, these leagues only played 8 and 9 ball. I despise 1 pocket, but I'd gladly play it just to mix up from the monotonous 2 game type cycle. To be fair I knew that going in, but I really felt it coming out.
